Comments: A 1969 classic, vintage, Chickering Baby Grand Piano (model number 229382) is for sale for $10,000. Chickering & Sons founded in Boston in 1862 was awarded the HONNEUR ET PATRIE (Grand Cross insignia with the crown of Henry IV - shown at bottom right of photo) which is "the highest award given any piano manufactured in the world." This piano is being sold by the original owner. Piano was rarely played and served as a beautiful furniture and conversation piece. This piano was tuned and appraised on November 17, 2008. Comments: As an instrument, piano is solid and in good mechanical condition. The keys are ivory with one chip. The finish is very unique with ivory crackled paint and hand decorated with floral garland. The finish is in marginal condition. I inherited the piano in 1994 and we have never used it. It is beautiful and unique, but needs some TLC.
