My recital

Hello! I am not an adult or a beginner, but Mountain Ash wanted me to post a report on my recent recital, so here it is! I performed Schubert's Impromptu in F-minor on Sunday. I have a regional judged event called Adjudications coming up in 2 weeks, so this recital is basically a time for the students to perform their pieces before the actual event. My piece was so long (10 minutes) that my mom thought that I had messed up and started over. (not a good testimony to my phrasing skills :p ) The memory was untried, so I was mostly concentrating on just remembering the notes, and my performance was rather...well...flat? Just a but expressionless, I think. Oh well. Now that I know that I have it memorized, I can work on the phrasing and things. One frustrating thing is this: There is a nice girl in my studio who decided that she is going to be competitive with me, so she choose a Schubert Impromptu from the SAME opus and in the SAME key to play against me in the competition. Very smooth. So, that wasn't too fun for me. But it doesn't bother me too too much, I guess. So that is the report. Hope I do well in Adjudications!

Congrats! I'm half way through Schubert's Impromptu in C minor. So if I have it for the next recital (not rec #5) I'll record it. Don't you think they're great, C. Schumman? I think the one I'm studying represents a man talking with his alter ego, walking at night, a rainy night, to the graveyard to bury himself alive. But, actually... he would need help to do so... Oh, the piece ends up in a major tone, I'll find out what happens...!

Monica Kern, the recital was not judged. It is just a performance in preparation for the judged event in 2 weeks! And AQP_87 I adore Schubert's Impromptus! It is difficult to have a favorite. I think all of his music is filled with such joy.

Nice job! I bet you still played it better than the other girl. I wish you the best of luck in your adjudications.

Don't take too much notice of the other girl, just focus on your own performance. I'm sure you'll do really well in two weeks time.

I'm pretty sure it's #1, she mentioned playing lots of arpeggios and that's the one that's full of them.
