Yea the monthly piano bar was ment for anyone to just play anything, at any time. Sort of like a lounge setting with an open piano to perform whatever you want.
The quarterly recitals are meant to showcase some of your best stuff or whatever you are working on at the moment and is in good enough shape to be willing to share with others, even if it's not perfect.
I hear what you are saying about wanting to hear and hang out with actual
beginers but the AB forum is still the place to be.
Yes, there are a lot of much more accomplished piano players here but they have lots of info for the rest of us and can serve as a great example of where we all can be in the future.
You will also have a wide variety of learning and playing styles here from the "sit up straight" classical players who strive to perform a piece as written to the nth degree all the way to the guy totally winging it and everything else in between.
The people here are friendly, they have to be or else we shoot them.
This is why there are very seldom, if any problems on this forum. nobody likes to get shot!.
Thats pretty much it in a nut shell. :p
