Hey everyone! I know we already have a section in this site specifically for member recordings, but I wanted to know if we can make a thread in the ABF section specifically with pieces that other beginners can grasp and feel that they can play. Whenever I go to the "Member Recordings" section, I feel kinda intimidated uploading my dinky little pieces next to the high level pieces that pretty much all the other people posted there. You see Bach, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff just to name a few, and it just goes without saying that a lot of us in the ABF just can't relate to the difficulty level of those pieces.

Hehe I don't know, I'm just shooting ideas off my head so don't mind me! lol

Hi, z32 - whew! there's so many tunes posted in this forum I don't even have time to listen to them all!

Mark... has indexed recordings of tunes from the Alfred's Book 1,2, and 3 study threads at the beginning of each thread, and they're a great resource for those just starting to play piano.

Most of the threads have pieces of widely varying difficulty, but it gives you an idea of what you can aspire to, at many stages of your journey!

For a really great selection click on the Important Topics thread at the top of the ABF and then scroll down to get the links to the quarterly recitals. There's all kinds of stuff there, and from folks all along the spectrum.

And there's the monthly piano bars (see a thread that says "September piano bar" or whatever) -

And the improvising Chopsticks thread - a big variety there!

So, please post your pieces - the piano bar is a great place to start - everyone welcome! -, and the next recital is in mid-November!

Cathy

Yea the monthly piano bar was ment for anyone to just play anything, at any time. Sort of like a lounge setting with an open piano to perform whatever you want.

The quarterly recitals are meant to showcase some of your best stuff or whatever you are working on at the moment and is in good enough shape to be willing to share with others, even if it's not perfect.

I hear what you are saying about wanting to hear and hang out with actual beginers but the AB forum is still the place to be.

Yes, there are a lot of much more accomplished piano players here but they have lots of info for the rest of us and can serve as a great example of where we all can be in the future.

You will also have a wide variety of learning and playing styles here from the "sit up straight" classical players who strive to perform a piece as written to the nth degree all the way to the guy totally winging it and everything else in between.

The people here are friendly, they have to be or else we shoot them. This is why there are very seldom, if any problems on this forum. nobody likes to get shot!.

Thats pretty much it in a nut shell. :p

Your well done pieces would be perfect for the piano bar and the recitals, as long as you don't forget us in the Alfred threads... \:D
