Did this happen to anyone else? Are there words for what I just watched?? wow

Wow, it's performances like the one Lisztener posted that make me simultaneously discouraged and inspired.

The piece I wish I could play: Chopin's Revolutionary Etude.

I'm with Jeff about locking this thread. Or at least limit your dream pieces to ones I already have the music to--I'm going to the poorhouse!

Hunk,

He's my favorite concert pianist. I believe he's the greatest virtuoso in the world today.

Hey man, what happened to you? Looks like the Mrs. must have got hold of you and flattened your face out a little. laugh I'm just teasing, but I had to make a comment on your new avatar. I see she gave you a perm in the process. :p

You're still the original ABF Joe Kewl, so don't let me rattle you, OK? wink

Regards,

Lisztener

The solo right hand part at 2:30 is absolutely amazing! His hand looks completely relaxed, his fingers are a blur and he's playing loudly enough to be heard throughout Albert Hall.

I've got the DVD of this performance and I never tire of watching it.

For me, Chopin's G Minor Ballade. It's a piece of music that I totally get from a listening stand point. It really is an emotional rollercoaster for me, and I see what Chopin was thinking with each and every note. Unfortunately, I am not much of a piano player, and I struggle through a large majority of it.

Being able to play it properly for a very special lady to me, with the passion that I have when I listen to it, would be my greatest goal! smile

I've had one wish since I was a little girl, to play one of the late Mozart concertos with an orchestra, but I learned very early that it would never happen.... wink

But Ragnhild, never say never....

For me it's Debussy's Clair de Lune, and for what my sister-in-law-concert-pianist says, only 4-5 years away from it (and it would still be tough, but never mind).

Good choice - this piece is so beautiful. I think it's doable as well, but in a few years...not yet. [/b]
I carry this piece around with me all the time - have for about 3 years now. Learned the first two pages (main theme) although needs much polishing. Have tackled the next couple of measures but it's about 3 years of reach I figure....

Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". I have a good start on it, another couple years and I should have it down.

I sure wish stupid stuff like work and eating wouldn't interfere with my piano practice.
