jimboo Junior Member Registered: 01/25/08 Posts: 10 Loc: wilmette illinois	I am new to Piano Forums and a rank beginner on the piano. I no this post is really not new but don't know how to post to this site. With regard to recording I bought a very cheap recorder for my practice hours-sound is terrible. If I use a Zoom can I just swithch it on and record my sessions or does it have to be connected to a PC? Regret displaying my ignorance but a response will be welcome! Jimboo

Monica K. Registered: 08/10/05 Posts: 16994 Loc: Lexington, Kentucky	Welcome to the forum, jimboo! Yes, the Zoom is a stand-alone unit, and you can just switch the Zoom on and it records. It can run on batteries, too, so you don't even need to plug it in. I only hook mine up to the computer when I am ready to convert the recording to mp3 and upload it, or when I'm ready to delete the gazillion bad takes I've done. :rolleyes: (It's easier to delete and rename files through the computer, though you can do it all through just the Zoom, too.) _________________________ Mason & Hamlin A -- 91997 My YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/pianomonica
