How often do you have your piano tuned?

I had mine tuned this morning and wondered how frequently others get theirs done.
For me, it's usually three or four times a year.

I've only had the piano tuned once after 6 months. I have been renting for a year now, so I expect to be receiving a reminder very shortly from my tuner for my second tuning. Jon

I have my piano tuned (but with additional things done as needed, such as voicing, pedal adjustment, etc.) four to five times each year. I would have it tuned monthly if I could afford it. I think I must have a very sensitive ear because even though my piano "holds it tune" extremely well, there is just no substitute for the way my piano feels right after it is tuned. I guess the equivalent is the way my teeth feel right after a dental cleaning, you know the feeling -- when your tongue feels every tooth, your whole mouth feels terrific and sparkling. After my piano technician departs, seems like the entire piano feels cleaner, sharper, and sounds splendid.

There is nothing like playing a perfectly tuned piano. I think I have pretty sensitive hearing so I have my piano tuned every 3 months. Ideally it would get tuned every 4 to 6 weeks.

Twice a year, when the heat goes on (around Nov) when the heat goes off (April/May). This usually includes a bit of voicing and hammer adjustment, squeek control and anything else I have written on my list.

Twice a year but it should probably be three times.

Can all of you be my clients? I am a piano tuner and in the place where I live, piano owners are so hard to convince to have their pianos tuned at least once a year. The majority of them haven't had their pianos tuned for more than 2 years already.
Whenever I call them I feel as if people think I'm only after their money. No wonder this kind of work is one of the most misunderstood.

Jac: Most pianists don't tune their own pianos. This forum does have a number of piano technicians that do their own tunings. I use an awesome local tuner who was recommended by my piano teacher. Plays: Thanks for the thread. I just checked my records and it's been ~6 months since my last tuning. I just e-mailed my piano tech to schedule my biannual tuning. Jon

I bought a humidifier for my living room, and now I'm only tuning once a year, whereas before it would be noticeably out of tune in a month or two. I don't think I have a very sensitive ear, however.
