I just remembered a book I have that may help some beginner adults as well as teachers who may not have much experience teaching adults. I haven't read the book in it's entirety, but have skipped around. I'll have to get back to reading it again.

It's by Barbara English Maris and it's called "Making Music at the Piano, Learning Strategies for Adult Students". I found it at a local library, and decided to get my own copy, finding it at a MUCH discounted price brand new!

Book Link .

Maybe it will help others! \:\)

Just checked out the link, and this book looks good for me. Does it give advice on what exercises are good? My teacher doesn't mention that -- so I wonder if other teachers do. Thanks!

That is a good book - I bought it and read it long before I even borrowed a loaner piano from a friend. Lots of interesting things to try. Heavy emphasis on playing musically, and many academic discussions of the process of learning piano. In short, I agree wholeheartedly with Sleepingcats.
