ok, this one is actually quite easy!!!!

if you have the capability to record please do so, so you can hear the difference!!!

1.ok record yourself playing your song of choice....just record it like you usually do as if you were going to post it. dont rerecord it save it and move on to #2

2. Now comes the tricky part. sit down and think this is all i got to give today, erase distractions. and just Play what you have chosen. dont think perfect. think this is what i have to give.

3. was there any difference in your playing?

this one seems a bit off now to me because i changed post 3.......

ok now that i have totally picked your brains. i just wanted to say thank-you again. once this post is completed, i can then post what brought on this research and with the responses finish the essay or results or my personal findings etc etc... this is the end of the exams so to speak

the finished product will be posted once this is done which i am sure you are all happy to hear :p

Hmm, now this did not go the way I thought it would at all!!! I figured that, at best, I wouldn't have much difference, if only because I knew going into it what the second part was supposed to be, and I thought that would color the first recording, if you can follow what I mean.

But- what actually happened was that the first time thru went decently well. Not perfect, but good enough that I would have considered it well played. The second time, after consciously taking a moment to tell myself- "this is the one for today. I am just going to play this thing." I totally and completely messed up! I lost my place midway thru and could not resurrect it at all!! Wow- that was a surprise.

I had a similar experience. As suggested by Funburger's earlier thread, thought for a few moments of the one time I was "in the zone" with Moonlight Sonata, and proceeded to play.

What a disaster! I couldn't even find the starting notes (I play from memory). Even when I did get going, the piece was loaded with mistakes. I gave up. Just as well nobody heard \:o

Again, late with homework (man, I am reminded so much of my college days, but without the "support" items so prevalent is the 60's and 70's - always late to class, homework not done on time, do my sleeping in class to be rested for tonight, etc).

I am trying to record myself and it is getting easier, but I must admit, I do not want to save the session if not perfect (which is silly, how can I expect perfect?). Many years ago, in my guitar days, I realized most humans are much more forgiving at a live performance, but become very critical with recordings, expecting perfection. I do not want to keep a bad recording because I can see it showing up on u-tube when I am a famous performer (hehe). The nude pictures are OK but not the bad recording.....My inexperience with recording combined with my skill level made this difficult. So, my final answer is I did not like doing this one, so that put me in the wrong state of mind to expect the results to have value.
