Very excited to be going to this finally. This is the third time we have had Argerich tickets. First time in 2001 with Friere, she cancelled about 2 weeks before the date; second time last year she was to play solo with the San Francisco Symphony, cancelled about a week before. Finally it looks like she will put her butt on that piano bench in SF!

Just returned from this recital. Absolutely brilliant. They played Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Latislowski (?) and Ravel pieces for 2 pianos; Schubert rondo piano duet and several encores. Argerich in particular has simply awesome technique - speed, accuracy, beauty of tone, expressiveness. Freire ain't too shabby, either. Thoroughly enjoyed every second, just wish I had brought a pair of opera glasses with me as we were in the last row of the 2nd tier.

Hey hey hey!!! Sounds like just the recital I heard last week over here!!!

Glad you got to see and hear this concert.

(BTW, I did expressly buy a pair of opera glasses for my trip to Carnegie last week because I was in the last row of the balcony. Psst: the acoustics at Carnegie are fantastic and the sound in the balcony is hardly to be matched in the whole place! ;\) Just for your info in case you ever visit.)

I am going to a piano concert next month, and I have seats in the back of the upper balcony. I was going to bring my regular big black binoculars. Am I hearing that I should bring some dainty opera glasses instead? I'm so un-cultured...

Seriously, I have a pair of Nikon 6x28 or so. Perfect for a small venue.

These Titanium Nikons are very cool!

The 7x15s shown here are very small and lightweight
