A jazzy version of Moonlight Sonata. It was nice & all, but it didn't sound much like Moonlight to me.

Haha.... That guy ROCKS! I wonder if Trans-Siberian Orchestra is needing a pianist! \:D

Well played technically, but with no soul to it....

Oh Frank, you mentioned TransSiberian Orchestra! I am desparate to get their "Christmas Eve" on piano solo sheet music!!

As far as this Moonlight... it's interesting because it shows how truly musical those chords are, you can put them in a different "world" and they still work. I agree with Bob, it doesn't sound like the Moonlight, maybe more like the Sunlight Sonata! But imagine if we could hear the pianist play on an acoustic with a fuller sound. And play all the way to the end. I bet it would be different than we hear here. In other words, I'm not inclined to agree with the "no soul" assessment. And the pianist does really well at that tempo, I think. I like it.

Of course, I'm biased because I love famous music that's been "tweaked."

Hey Karaeloko, it just occurred to me, is that you playing?!

And now we can click on all those other Moonlight videos! I like the one that says "I made Daniel put on a suit for this" and the young kid plays in a suit with tube socks, and a candelabra!

I just couldn't feel it.. Don't know, it might be the piano. It was to harsh especially for the Moonlight.

Do you have their album, "Beethoven's Last Night"?

I think you'd like that one. If I could find the sheet music for THAT... Wow!!

Frank, they actually have a few solo piano sheet music books published, I found them on Amazon and now I'm trying to see if I can get them through Amazon Japan. Although, I'm a little worried since it's hard to judge the quality of the arrangements from those Amazon pages. I'm thinking of getting the Lost Christmas first.

Karaeloko, sorry for hijacking your thread!!

Hello,
I'm new and trying to find the best place for me to lurk and contribute.
As an Adult Beginner's Forum[/b], why are you posting a video of some kid desecrating a classic composition?
Is this some attempt to inspire beginning adults to play horribly?

If the piano player had any sense of jazz coordination, it might even be passable as a funky jazz riff, but not in this case. Next, I imagine people will be posting kids rapping the Chorale of Beethoven's 9th. I understand that this is a free forum, but perhaps that kind of garbage is best put in the Non-Classical, or "Fun of it" forums.

Hi Craig, welcome.... \:D

Not all of us Adults here in the Adults Beginner Forum are playing classical music. The non-classical forum doesn't get as much activity as this one, so you are likely to find all types of music being played and discussed in the forum, not just classical.

Craig, this isn't the Adult Beginner's Classical Forum[/b]. Many of us appreciate all kinds of different music, including folks jazzing up a classical favorite.

You can't even mention Trans-Siberian Orchestra in the Pianist forum without recieving a few raspberries. \:\( It's a lot more laid back here.

I've searched the internet but cannot find "kids rapping the Chorale of Beethoven's 9th". Anyone know where I can find it?

I rather enjoyed it, too. No, it didn't sound like the "usual" Moonlight- which I do enjoy, btw. But, like ShiroKuro, I rather enjoy someone giving a different spin to something very familiar.
