I'm afraid I'll bring down the chicks average if I start putting in my time! But I have logged some practice time the last couple of weeks.

Averages don't matter. Warm functioning bodies at keyboards do. Every minute helps.

So we're going by total minutes, not daily average?

If so, I can put in my time for August. It's not much, but it would help.

And I was having log-in difficulties yesterday, so did not get to put my time in until this AM! And I did good (for me-not, say, Frycek! LOL) yesterday!!!

I won't be much help today, I'm afraid. My son has a cub scouts meeting, and I have to supervise his homework. I'll be lucky to get in half an hour. frown

[QUOTE]Maybe now is the time to just let them win. We could beat them if we felt like it, but we don't want to make them feel bad. [QUOTE] mad

Boy, Copper...that's really low!! :b:

You'll let us win!!

Isn't that a typical remark from a Dude (ooppps, better not offend them all). eek

If we win (and I have to say "if" because anything can happen, and I'll be humiliated if I get to cocky), we did it on our OWN.
Thank you very much! With hours and hours of back-breaking (but music-loving) labor. thumb

I haven't checked the log yet, so I don't know what the "scores" are. But I'm willing to put in whatever hours we need to cross that finish line first.

Promise you will all think of me tomorrow as I crawl around with three ice-packs attached to my back. :p

Every forward, ladies.

Kathleen

Kathleen, you DO know how to interpret that, don't you? "Maybe now is the time to just let them win. We could beat them if we felt like it, but we don't want to make them feel bad."

Really means:

"We don't have a snowball's chance in you-know-where, but we can't let on that we know that, so we must put on our manly face and pretend to be giving them a break."

ha ha ha

I use a little ten minute timer to set my ADHD son on a homework task and do a little practice while he gets to "practice" independence. Works fine for math and spelling.

It's not high quality time but it works and I delude myself that the music helps him learn/concentrate or something. At least it keeps the guilt at bay

You have to know me by now, that anything I say is ALWAYS "tongue-in-cheek." :p

I like to ruffle the "waters," as much as those bunnies love to ruffle their tails. :b:

I guess this is the same kind of attitude that makes men refuse to stop and ask for directions. laugh

Good suggestion, Dorrie... I definitely need to strive for more homework independence. But the tyke is only just starting 2nd grade, and the teachers expect--demand, really--parental involvement. And with Isaac's PDD issues, he needs more help than my daughter ever did.

What I really need to do is get off my butt and buy the digital piano I meant to buy this summer so I can play after they're in bed.

Monica, they can probably deal with you playing after they're in bed. My father played loud blues and rock & roll on our grand piano with the top up after my sister and I went to bed when we were little, and it didn't bother us at all. You could at least try experimenting with it--it's the perfect quiet time to practice.

I did well today and added my minutes in. Last week was chaotic at work, and I couldn't get much in at all, but today I put in two hours in the morning before work, and then I left work early and put in another 1.75. I might be able to squeeze in another 15 minutes or so tonight.

I'm feeling a little bad. I practice for 45 minutes to 1 hour before work, the same at lunchtime and an hour or more in the evenings (more or less on weekends). That's a good few minutes to add to the log but I'm hesitating to commit to posting to a log. I don't have to be encouraged to practice. I have to be encouraged NOT to practice.... I think I'd start to resent logging time....unles I can just pop in total minutes (estimated) at the end of the day..... Would that work?? Retroactively... I could post... um...about 80 hours for August..

All you need to input is total minutes for the day. I have the same kind of concerns you do. I don't like committing to log, and I feel kind of strange having my minutes there for anyone to see. But it is nice to look down the days and have something to actually see about my practice. It's nice knowing how long you normally practice; without the log, I would find it pretty difficult to keep any kind of track.
