Since Boxnet has been having difficulty restoring the "play" function I have been looking for another site that would work as well.

I have looked at 4shared.com and started uploading a few of my pieces there. It has 5 gigs of free storage which is a gain over the 1 free gig on Boxnet. However, when I tried linking to just one of my pieces it gave me access to all the pieces of that folder. So I'm not sure that it would give me what boxnet allowed me to do, with all the safety features and limited access that I want.

Has anyone been using 4shared for their music?

Is there a play button like boxnet ?

Yes, there is a way to just "play" without downloading pieces. I think you might like this site.

Well, I don't like how the 4shared terms state that free accounts must be logged into every 30 days or files get erased. As far as I know, box.net has no such limitation.

Also strangely, the player for box.net launches fine when I click on a file in my own account but the play button on the shared file page doesn't launch. It's pretty strange.

Anthony, I'm finding the same result on boxnet as you are with my own files playing while shared files don't. And I agree about having to log in every 30 days would be unacceptable using 4shared. I hope the boxnet techs can solve it this week.
