I haven't poked around in this thread for a while. Wonderful pictures! Being able to put a face to a name adds a great personal touch to our piano community. One thing I'd like to ask... Please use our FILE UPLOADER when posting pictures.[/b] I constantly see threads where the pictures have disappeared, likely because they were hosted on some (usually free) service you no longer use. By uploading them to our server, you assure they won't suddenly disappear. Thanks for sharing everyone, keep them coming.

Kemble88... Welcome to PW!! I can't believe you've been hanging out here since Jan and I haven't spotted you!! It's always such a delight to notice a new local[/b] member!! That's a very shiny piano you have... looks brand new. And a nice pic of you sitting at your piano!! If your within reasonable distance to Lowell, you should come over and join us after the M&H tour.... or maybe you're attending the tour?? Anyway, great to see you've found PW!!

Hi Terrytunes,
Thanks for the welcome - unfortunately I'm going to be out of town at the beginning of May, but I'm hoping to join the M&H tour next year.
My Kemble is still very new - I got it at the beginning of November. I still can't quite believe I was able to buy such a nice piano this soon. We happened to walk into Boston Piano and Organ when they were dropping the Kemble line and they offered us the kind of deal you just can't walk away from (though I did restrain myself for long enough to go away and consult the Piano book before I said yes).

[/IMG] This is my piano when I first brought it home. I bought it for $65 at a high school auction! Everyone else at the auction was interested in school desks/chairs, so I was the only one bidding on the piano! It was in great shape except for all the scratches and some small dents. But it played beautifully, and I knew it would turn out beautiful!

sid- it plays absolutely beautiful! It was built in 1910, so it has been around quite a bit. There were so many names carved into the sides and lid, gum was stuck inside everywhere, there were random screws and nails stuck in everywhere, and on the left side of the keyboard, the corner was even missing!
It's been tuned 3 times now; sounds like it was just made! My mom and I started refinishing in late July, and finished in late January- we had never even refinished a cabinet or dresser, let alone a grand piano.
Finishing the keytops was a breeze, as I just popped off the old ivory with a putty knife after I heated them to release the glue. Then I just glued on the new ones and clamped them and let them dry. HOWEVER... I was sold the wrong glue from some idiot piano guy and the blacks started popping off one by one about 2 months after it was finished. I would be playing something, and there would go F#. It was terrible! So I had to re-do all the blacks with a different glue.

After seeing all your great pictures, I guess it's only fair that I post some of mine. My favorite is Mr. SH's *gorgeous* house with such a beautiful lot to boot - I love adobe style houses! Those iguanas and their cousins are kind of scary to me - I am not a reptile kind of gal. Pooches I loooove! (Unfortunately about a third of the pictures don't show up for me.) Here goes: This is my sweetheart & I all dressed up for my dad's 80th birthday party 2 years ago. We never dress up otherwise!!! This is my "normal" look, not to imply that I am normal! BTW this was at an orchid show - I have about a dozen cool-looking ones at home, but have no room for more - helps curb the buying spree :p This I post for the scenery. This is hiking along the SW Welsh coast last summer. You folks from the UK, especially Mumbles, would know it - it's Pembrokeshire Park, St. David's Head in the background. Talking about you folks at UK, when I see you posters from Blackpool, I can only think of ballroom dance. I am passionate about it - used to compete, and no, nowhere close to the level of Blackpool. (For those of you who don't know, Blackpool is the Wimbledon of Ballroom dance.) OK, keep those pix coming!
