This is my granddaughter at my current keyboard. It's a Roland RD-500. I'm going to be getting a new keyboard soon, possibly a MP8. My granddaughter is only 4 but already she has an interest in music. When the photo was taken I was showing her how to make the notes sound "pretty" - by touching each key with only 1 finger, and how to play thirds. She likes piano but she says she intends to learn violin. She says her sister (who is 3 years younger) will be the one to learn piano. Well, start them young, I guess.

If this thread is delving into a "what do you have for breakfast?" subtopic, then i will chip in:

Ideally - bowl of porridge, yoghurt, and a glass of apple juice.

Recently - two cans of Red Bull. All the caffeine, sugar, and taurine one could ever need to wake from slumbar. Need to get back to having a proper breakfast!

(my Red Bull breakfast is definately NOT the 'breakfast of champions', but it does get the heart beating fast!)

Euan.

Sharon, we luv ya man!!! \:D (Wasn't that a trendy saying not too long ago?

BTW, how are you doing with "Smile", last night I plucked out the melody all by my little old self totally by ear! But I doubt I can get much further than that!

(singing...and probably off key) "Smile, what's the use in crying
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you'll just smile" \:\)

I just have to comment that, after being a member here for about 1 1/2 years, this is probably the oddest thread I've seen. I wouldn't have guessed that a PianoWorld thread would eventually turn into a Mary Kay thread after hitting pets, lifestyles, and favorite breakfasts.

I'll try to continue to keep my posts "special" (thank you, Naught).... but there's not much more to say, really. Now I just have to play piano and talk piano talk. BTW: Rocko, I haven't been practicing SMILE - but I should...AND I WILL.

But, now don't you feel you can play the piano better by having gained all the knowledge from this thread??? :p

Must extend this thread. Must post - anything....

Oh, I know. We had a nice retirement lunch for somebody today, went to a really nice place, had a very nice lunch, and it snowed in New York in April. How's that? \:\)

Sharon, It was snowing up north here in Mass pretty good too. I was standing looking out a window at work, and it looked like the snowflakes were averaging between 1-2 inches wide... No exaggeration!

Fun, I think that's a great idea. Definitely take a nice, clear, pix of you at your new "baby". And as far as having a "freak out" about it - I would definitely freak out if there was a mix up on something like that - so you are absolutely right in your feelings.

Dinner time here - so see ya later.

Mak: Isn't this weather wild? I know it's not really that uncommon for early spring, but it still feels weird every year. Monday, I was in a teeshirt at lunch throwing a baseball around, and today I was wearing a longsleeve shirt and Heavy Leather Coat!

Being a New Englander is always an interesting ride!

Fun: That is a very nice piano. I hope you will post a pic. It would be nice to put a face to the...fuzzy blob \:D I have a feeling more people are still following this thread than you think too.

I guess rocky and I shouldn't tell you that it was yet another gorgeous spring day here in Kentucky, clear blue skies and crisp air warming up to the 60s. Otherwise y'all might want to move down here. ;\)

Funburger:

Congrats on your beutiful new piano. Your going to get a LOT of power out of it with that wood floor.

It looks very nice in that room. Remember to play it in all different configurations (lid up, lid down etc) to find out what sounds and resonates best.

I have a super-powerful grand in a very small room with wood floors and empty walls (temporary location), and I have to play it with the lid closed and a floor rug under neath it just to keep my families sanity and not affect my hearing!.

You can even experiment with various sounds by putting a bed comforter underneath the piano for a moment just to see what a rug might sound like.

Again, super-nice piano, can we hear it in the upcoming recital??

Monica, I only have one appropriate response: :p

...but feel free to rub in your nice weather anytime you want. At least we live in New Eng. where it's suppose to snow. It's not like we had a freak snow storm in Arizona or anything. Right Hunky? ;\)

I have to rub it in while I can, shortcircuit, because in about 6 short weeks, it will jump to low 90s temps and high 90s humidity and stay that way all summer, which I can hardly gloat about, right? And I haven't even mentioned the mosquitos...
