My client has a Yamaha grand, serial # 521983, Nippon Gakki

The piano is probably in need of restoration...pins are loose and have been previously treated...its a great sounding piano. I am advising her to look at some new pianos locally in Kalamazoo MI, including Yamahas. What do you think the value of this piano, in fair condition, is? Thoughts?? RD

My guesstimate:

After it was restrung and repinned, perhaps with some new hammers, shanks, and flanges, with some basic finish touch up, should probably sell for $9k - $11k depending on the market in which it is being sold. This is a retail figure, and figure about 15% - 20% less if it was sold private party to someone.

Wholesale to a dealer would be much less, and figure the $$ spent in refurbishing it wouldn't be recouped if sold to a dealer.

NO clue, without a full physical inspection.

Somewhere between $1 and $4,000 is safe.
