Hi, I am till trying to figure out what fingering patterns would be approriated for left hand fast arpeggios for measure 27-28 also 29 and 30. My sheet musis does not give me any fingering notation. I guess there is more than one option? I like to try them all to see if it suits me.
Thanks in advance,
tvpiano

I'm glad you posted this, tvpiano. I played this piece last year, but I wanted to get it back in shape. It always helps to revisit some of those fingerings and see if you can do something more comfortable.

Nancy, In the other thread, it said to break the arpeggios for measure 27 to 4-2 (4 notes LH, 2 notes RH). For the the first 2 patterns, they are obvious, but for the third (Ab-Fb-Ab-Cb-Fb-Ab) I think I will try fingering 4131 (LH) instead of 5212 (LH): http://img273.imageshack.us/img273/7051/debussy7xa.jpg what do you think?

tvpiano, I only break them 4-2 for the first two arpeggios. After that, I play them 3 and 3 in that measure. Then in 28 I go back to 4-2 for the first and second ones, then 3-3 for the third.
I am working on getting this piece back in shape, and as when I first began it, my real problem area is measures 45 & 46. I should just start with those and then go back to the beginning.

Rather then the breaks, I was aways more concerned with measures 29 & 30, where the left hand takes all of the arpeggio and the right hand has the melody. The first time I played that measure it felt so akward that I felt that I would never be able to perform it smoothly and up to speed, but of course after playing it many times it's become easy

THeowne, I did try your method a few months ago when I first approached this piece, but it is hard to keep the left hand sounds right without having some small amount of delay between each arpeggio pattern. Recently, I watched a good video from youtube and noticed the pianist using the 'break' fingering for the arpeggio. But It is good to know that your way is work for you
