"Your Bach Book," by Guy Maier was my introduction to the playing of Bach. The book is loosly graded and geared toward intermediate and early advanced students, and contains a wonderful variety of the music of Bach drawn from the Suites and Partitas, the 2 and 3 part inventions, and a number of preludes and fugues from the Well-tempered Clavichord. Guy Maier provides information on how to perform the various embellishments, suggestions for fingering, and excellent notes on backgrounds of each of the compositions, as well as suggestions as to how they should be played.
I think that this is an excellent book for those who have never played any Bach and would like to learn some of his music. As I mentioned above, Maier has loosly graded the pieces and starts with the easiest, moving on to the more difficult ones. He has selected compositions that are delightful to play and to listen to. Thanks for the info Gaby. I'd love to play with some Bach, but wasn't quite sure where to start.

The Maier book is a great place to start as it is graded. The study notes are very helpful, especially if one is learning without a teacher. Gaby Tu
