Guys, I'm sorry.

I've been so busy with school, school tennis, and music that I haven't had time to post here. I've still posted a little in the "Pianist Corner" but it is just not the same as the ABF! laugh

School has gone really well. I got recomended for 3 honors classes next year by tough teachers, so I'm pretty happy with the way things are going. And surprisingly, I'm not very afraid of finals this year. eek

School tennis has been tough. I know a few of you know that I've played tennis since I was a very little kid. I'm a freshman, and playing #1 singles and doubles for my highschool. It's a great learning experience because I get to play the seniors that are just about ready to go play college tennis wink . I'm 2-3 right now in singles and 3-2 in doubles, so my season hasn't been terrible. My dad continues to say "I don't expect you to win every match, that's not
important... this is a learning year for you." And it has been. Playing 1 really affected my tennis in a good way. ...Now I just need more confidence playing against the 6'3'' guys. :p

Music has gone really well also. I'm getting paid pretty regularly to be a lobby pianist. This meant learning alot of modern and non-classical stuff... not my exact specialty. I've had to learn about 30 pieces that everyone recognises (As Time Goes By, Take Five, Carolina in the Morning).

My classical music has gone really well also. I learned a lot of new music in the last 3 months, so expect some recordings pretty soon. (Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, MacDowell!)

I haven't posted in the ABF in ages, and I think I need to have a reunion with my (internet) family!

You're a great kid, Matt. I'm sure you will continue to succeed in your pursuits. After all, there's nothing like a little hard work to help ensure future success. You are obviously one who works hard at whatever he chooses to pursue. Keep doing that, and you will have a great life.

Matt, great to hear from you. Sounds like you are having a good year all around.

Playing as a lobby pianist? Wow, I bet more than a few people around here are envious of your ability and opportunity. How do you like it? Any stage fright? or is it a blast?

As for all your classical pieces, I am sure you know about the recital in May. How about postint some pop music at the Piano Bar? I don't think we've heard you as a lobby pianist!

Yeah, I was going to suggest the same thing as Rosanna... how about recording some of your lobby tunes for the recital? smile

Thanks for the update, Matt. I have been vicariously enjoying your adventures as a lobby pianist. And I am pleased to see that you (and your father) have such a refreshing attitude about your tennis. In a couple of very short years, it will be the little freshman quaking in fear of you. :p

Hi Matt!

I echo what TX-Dennis has said. I think it's great that you enjoy all these challenges - and excel in them - at such a young age. You have a wonderful attitude!

I knew it! You had a lounge lizzard hiding within you all this time, Matt.

Please do post something.

Matt,

It's good to hear from you and know that you are progressing so well in your school work and other interests.

It's about time that you came home to update us all on your life. :p It's good that you miss your friends here on the ABF. I'll bet it's also good for you to know that many of us are pulling for you and enjoy hearing from you.

Best regards,

Lisztener

Hey, you are no longer a beginner, I don't think you're considered an adult, in fact you getting paid to play the piano makes you a paid professional. It's good to know you're not too good to hang out here with us. :p
