No, just trying to keep your butt in sight. I'm not going to get much practice time in today, it's girls night out tonight, my once a month outing.

I am determined!

I am shooting for 2+ hours per day this month.

I have festival on March 5.

I have to go into a sound proof room with two judges.

Required piece is Mighty Avalanche and my Choice Piece is Chopin Prelude in E minor.

Must get a Superior Rating this year! I only got an Excellent this last year.

Katie has 5 superiors in a row and is going for her second gold cup this year!

I am so incredibly proud of her! Out teacher is starting her on Debussy's Children Corner this week!

Good luck, Mark. Katie will love Children's Corner. The only one I have done is Golliwogg's Cakewalk and I love it. Need to bring that one back. Keep practicing!

Man - I thought sure I'd catch up with Markjpcs tonight. HUbbie was gone until seven so I played all the time and what to my surprise - he's still ahead. I think it's WAR! I just wish all my practice would render me as accomplished as Markjpcs.

I'm trying to do this for the first time... took me a few minutes to figure out how to work things, but I'm now officially "on the board."

Good lord!

Oh, I'm in trouble now! Nina's in the house, and she's moving up fast!

And here I have to go to Pottery Barn when I'd rather practice. \:\(

I was pretty bummed last year when I didn't get a "superior" rating from the judges. My previous teacher did not emphasize phrasing and other required technical requirements enough to get me to that level. I did practice a lot and she told me that everything was great. It wasn't.

I want to make my new teacher proud. I want to have that sense of accomplishment and I also want Katie to be proud of her "old man". She brings an indescribable level of joy and pride to my heart and I need to return that.

I am getting way too emotional about this... \:\(

No, you're not!

BTW, phrasing and all that is what separates really good pianists from technicians, IMHO. It's great that you're emphasizing it. A musical interpretation of a simple piece is FAR more accomplished and memorable than a lot of notes jammed into a tiny amount of time. Case in point: Horowitz' rendition of "Traumerei." Flawless technically, but the interpretation puts it into a magical realm.

If you want Katie to adore her old man, just buy her a pony! ;\)

Mark, your playing is phenomenal. You'll get that rating. And we'll have a little party to celebrate!

Dadgummit, I'm getting tromped! Even Cindy had me beat right out of the gate. I'm limping along finding it hard to see because of all the dust kicked up by everyone in front. \:\(

I'm a flash in the pan, Jerry. I'm just messing with your mind at this point, underming your confidence, destroying your resolve.

It's been fun! \:D

The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but it sure pays to bet on them.

As with Nina, I, too, am now officially "on the board" as of the 1st. Man! It's demoralizing to see my measly 70 hours total to markjpcs 500+! You are going to kick butt at that festival! (Can I say that?)

I'm not home, Jerry. But I have my old spinet in my room and I gulp down my lunch and run back to my classroom to practice for a few... I just work on little bits and pieces that need smoothing out. Hey guys - didn't we say that practice on a clavinova with headphones doesn't count? I thought we made that rule! \:D
