Hi folks I have had a request for the midi file of my recital performance. I didn't know you could do this but, apparently it is possible to make some sheet music from the midi. Amazingly it was still there in the memory of the keyboard. So, if anyone else can do this sort of thing and would like it too here is the link. What A Wonderful World midi file [click] There is a slight rhythm blooper (as always with me) in the middle so I'm not sure how that will come across in the sheet music. Infact, if anyone does convert it? I'd love to see what I look like on paper  Lee

Lee, I can convert midi to sheet music quite easily using Sibelius 5. There are other software programmes that are capable of doing this also like Notation Musician but Sibelius is best! http://www.notation.com/Download.htm

Lee, I was told by my previous teacher that things look much more difficult on paper than it is playing them. It is true.
I have downloaded your midi and will have a look later.
Is Mike back at PM or is he still out?

RC, great if you can have a workable sheet music, I tried my midi performance using noteworthy software and it was a real mess but I know Sibelius is a lot more powerful.

actually I find midiillustrator maestro is by far the most powerful midi-to-sheet music converter out there... I love it! I'll make a copy later tonight.

For the record,Lee your midi file conversion would probably need some work to bring it to a final 'sheet music' standard however its a good starting point. With Sibelius, you can play the midi and monitor the score and edit it.
I am not competent enough yet to identify everything that is happening in sheet music but I could play Wonder World better and in a shorter period of time from sheet music than by ear. However, I could play it by ear faster than from sheet music.

yeah I ran it through midiillustrator and finale and it's just 14 pages of utter madness. It dosent seem like any midi-to-sheet programs handle the arpeggiated (is that the right word? I havent had proper lessons in ages) chords. They break the chords up into a bunch of tied eighth notes and sixteenth notes and (in some cases) 32nd's. I could try and fix it up but its really not worth it haha.
It's an excellent lesson in playing by ear though. Its really nice to look at the chords in the original sheet music and see what a talented musician turns it into.

Hi munkee Utter madness huh? now there's a surprise! LOL The cool thing is that I only think simple when I play it - all the fancy stuff is played by a little piano playing alien that sits inside of my body!!  (he just does his own thing!  ) Because he's an alien he hasn't quite grasped rhythm totally but, he's getting there-ish? (so I just blame him!  ) Lee
