Hi everyone! I want to say how much I enjoy reading/listening to all your posts.

I am a adult student - a bit over 5 years. I completed a mini recital at my house at the 3 year mark. Now, I have suggested to my insturctor to complete a larger recital. He is all for it - and we are looking at a year from now. I will have both contemporaty and classical.

One of the songs I would like to do is "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" -- I have seen several pieces to buy, but wondered what experience any of you have with the music? Do you have a good version?

My hat's off to you, disneymusicdreamer! I'd love to be brave enough to do a full-fledged recital some day. (I'm still working up the nerve to do the much less intimidating 'play at a retirement home full of deaf, sleeping elderly people' gig. laugh )

I hope you will keep us updated regarding your preparation and, naturally, the big event itself.

As for the "I'd like to teach..." song, I'm afraid I don't know any arrangements of it. But I *do* hold you responsible for getting that tune stuck in my head this morning... mad laugh

Monica K,
One day you will get to do a recital. I do a great deal of public speaking, so I think performing is helped because of that. One degree of my instructor is Piano Performance, so he is very inspiring to try these things.

If you get tired of singing I'd like to teach the world - you can switch to It's a Small World for a while - smile

My suggestion is to to study a few of the pieces and then make your own arrangement.

I do feel the need for a Coke now.

Best of luck with the recital.
