As promised in the PianoForum here are pictures of our new (to us) Maeari grand.

We placed a rug in anticipation of of our new piano and it was immediately occupied by our inquisitive little friends unmarred in the face of change. A portent of harmony?

Set up, cleaned up and ready for action! The rug provided unnecessary dampening so it was removed.

Obligatory 'Reflection in the lid' shot. I hate the flash on my camera but i love that view.

It sounds better here then it did before it was moved. Can't wait for the tuning/voicing at the end of next week! Recordings to come soon.

Congrats! It looks wonderful! What kind of piano is it?

You may want to wait to get it tuned for a bit, if the tuning is OK right now. The piano technician at the music school I work at was telling a couple who was buying a piano that he had tuned the piano they were buying recently, and then he said it would be best to wait to tune it in a couple of months after the season changed, which he said would shoot it out of tune, anyway. I imagine this is even more true in Canada, and you don't want to get it tuned now and need to get it tuned again in November. Just a thought.

Love the sig Frank, the mammals are native to the home... on the right is the caninus porcinus or the North American Silver Back Pig Dog (le Pug). This partcular specimen is known to respond to Mr.Endo, Gould, Glen, Eggo, 'Egg McMonster with Cheese' and even simply 'sir!'. Likes: Food-like objects and sleep, Dislikes: having toenails clipped.

On the left we have an incarnation of Athena, the goddess of war and nocturnal toy hunting. Likes: any form of finagling, piano music and little else; Dislikes: mostly everything else.

Not shown: A fine specimen of felinus obeseiarium (les ragdolls). Likes: Cookies, Sleep and tummy rubs in that order. Dislikes: Everything else (and Athena sometimes)

C.P. Its a Samick with the name Maeari on the fallboard commissioned by Hyundai in the early 90s.

Best.

Nice piano and nice room (congratulations!), but that is one *gorgeous* cat. The markings are truly wonderful. Love the name, too. \:\)

Congratulations, SRSystem, on your beautiful piano! I think the best part is your statement that it sounds even better in your home than it did when you tried it out. I am so relieved that it worked out well for you.

p.s. My daughter's name is Athena, too! I'll have to show her the picture of her namesake.

Glad you made it Monica, your comments helped give me the confidence I needed to ignore opinion and trust my own judgment in this purchase. BTB Athena is an amazing name for a person ;\)
