Hi,is 3 pieces enough before moving onto the next grade.
I am currently learning my 3 pieces for ABRSM grade 6 and they do take a while to master and so did grade 5 this time last year which I passed early this spring.
But because the pieces are getting harder I can only find time to practice easier pieces and also try to keep up those really easy pieces for sight reading.

So to sum up since passing grade 5 I have not learned anything else at that level before attempting grade 6.

Regards,
Daz

To be honest, grades do not really matter that much - how you learn is completely up to you and you will continue to learn as much as you like to in your own time. The exams are more of a guideline to get you through the beginners' stage of learning - like school exams; you still learn after school (in my opinion now that I have left school I seem to be learning so much more).
You will improve when you practise your exam pieces, and hopefully will find time to play some other pieces of your choice as well. Easy pieces are not necessarily to be avoided. And anyway, it's sometimes quite controversial as to which piece is at which grade.
Hope this helps!

My daughter is doing her exam piece for ABRSM level 2 . She finished her level 1 exam last year. I am little confused, what does level 2 correspond to what grade?

Thanks for quick response Daren. I think the exams are fairly challenging comparing to Yamaha exams which are focus on hearing and etc. How is Staffordshire?

Could someone please explain what the ABRSM system is, what it means, what the grades are, how to take them, etc.?

Thanks.

it is UK's grading system, and you may check at their website:
