Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. I for 1 am relearning the piano. I took 10+yrs of lessons as a kid but haven't played much in 30 yrs (I'm 50). I had an old upright, then a Wurlitzer studio piano. My 1 husband (who is actually #3) bought a wonderful gift for me last Christmas. I was fully expecting yet another bookcase for my ever expanding library, but low & behold - it was a Casio! I know, I know, but STILL, it's a KEYBOARD! With tears in my eyes, I whipped it out of the box, plugged it in & played Bach's Joy; the only thing I remembered. His jaw dropped to his chest. WHY did he think I had been asking for 1? I practice 30 min - 60 min a day & am progressing quite rapidly - it's all coming back! I definitely belong in this forum tho, I'm really slow at learning something new. I also play flute, have a small animal rescue with horses, 1 chicken, cats, dogs, etc.

This place is great as are the people.

10 year lessons would qualify you to an advanced piano player, i guess, even though it was long time ago. you'd get back to it pretty soon and can play anything you want. enjoy!

Nope, no way am I advanced. Let's see, I can safely play Scarborough Fair, the Flintstones Theme, Puff the Magic Dragon, Bridal Song, Yellow Submarine, All The Pretty Little Horses (thanks for the link!), the beginnings of Romeo & Juliet, The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald, & Beethovan's 5th. That's it so far. I said I took lessons, I didn't say what I would do to get out of practicing . . .

Boy did you ever do the right thing! I took about 30 years off, too, after a couple of years of lesson as a kid, and not really even knowing I liked it. Playing again is the greatest thing, and the ABF here is the finest - you'll love it.

Recital, huh? Har har. Thought I was done with those decades ago. Am I required to wear the ancient obligatory white blouse, black skirt, white socks & black patent leather shoes? Plus, I now AM required to purchase some kind of cable to hook the keyboard to my computer. Clueless.

Yeah, I used the #1 on purpose - that thread was hysterical!

It's a Casio 496.

Dress for the recital is optional, candi; rumor has it that super-hunky records his pieces in his speedo. eek

As for cables and computer connections, if you go up to the "important topics for AB forum" thread, there is a link to a recording how-to thread that includes how to connect a digital to the computer for recording purposes.
