All,

I would like to know if there is any basic/introductory book which gives basic anatomical/harmonic analysis of some known classical music pieces [large scale and miniatures].

What I am looking for is a book with good blend of music appreciation with some demanding analysis.

Please feel free to post recommendations.

Thanks advance,

Sivam

check out 'The piano handbook', which i saw contains some basic theory. but because it is not mainly a theory book, don't expect too much from it. Piston(?) wrote a 'Harmony' text book, which has quite through explanations on harmony and progression etc. i'll try to find the link on amazon for it later.
