I loved everyone's renditions! Thanks for starting this thread on my all-time favorite group.

Here's my version of "Lady Madonna": http://www.box.net/shared/n8uyjeqa41

Elssa, this is a wonderful rendition. I have heard 'Lady Madonna' many times played on the piano but this version is nice in that it carries the melody for a soloist. Superb! Are you working from a printed arrangement?

Thanks, Ragtime! I redid it and tried to cut down the strings this time.

Lady Madonna

I actually got most of the bass line from one of the arrangements at www.musicnotes.com I then added in my own right hand and a few other things.

Mahlzeit, this is a beautiful rendition of a fantastic Lennon track from a brilliant album. Is this from printed music, what key is it in and how long did it take to figure it all out?

Elssa:

I didn't include your first "Lady Madonna" on my first post because I could not open it, but I included your second one. Great work on one of my favorites! Send some more!

Thanks, Ragtime! \:\)

I didn't really know this was written by John Lennon. I first heard this song on a recording by Jackson Browne. I played it by ear, probably in the key of C because that is what I usually play in -- hmm, actually it's probably in A minor -- and it didn't take very long to figure out. Although it probably helps if you know how to play by ear or have a program such as Transcribe! to help you transcribe it. \:D

Hey Lee:

Thanks for the Piano Magical Mystery Version! Nice one!

(Please make sure you check out my first post. Your song "Can't Buy Me Love - by the Sea!" is the only song ever with four of these things **** meaning its the only
song composed by Lennon/McCartney/Seaside Lee!)

Bill, I really enjoyed this. You played with the same spirit that Paul wrote it in.Its my favourite on the thread. Do you play totally by ear?

I'm glad you liked it. I used a fake book to get the chords and lyrics on this one. The fill-in stuff I do by ear.

It seems like our Beatles thread is running out of steam.

Imagine how cool it would be if everyone submitted a song.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope some day more will join us, and the thread will be as one.

You're "not the only one."

Just when I was ready to say "Let it Be" to this thread, you saved it! Another great interpretation by Bill.

Well, as promised, here's "Maxwell's Silver Hammer." I'm also throwing in "Don't Let Me Down" because I stumbled across it in my Beatles book and it seemed to offer a lot of possiblities.

Keep the thread alive my friends.

Manndrew - I really liked them both. You have a very nice semi-ragtime style on these tunes that made listening to them very enjoyable.

Keep up the good work.

Sue says many thanks. And that two of the snippits, Martha My Dear and Lady Madonna were the very first pieces she ever figured out by ear back in HS. But I'm not nearly so talented and amassed my own compelte xerox edition Beatles notebook which she looked at for Day in the Life but found too inaccurate. I did make a special request to include Fixing a Hole which she didn't know and got most of from my notebook. But the arrangements, transitions, and key adaptations are all hers.

Sue also said she's never played any Beatles out before. Closest was some kind of cast party back in 1983 or so. But I think she's suddenly taking a little inspiration from a late dear friend who did a Beatles tribute once... she's down on the piano right now noodling on some more pieces...

It has been almost a week since any new songs were added to the thread - Here's a Beatles song I did a while ago. This was my first Piano World ABF recital entry.

Bill,

What can I say???
Beautiful. You REALLY need to find a gig at a nice quiet restaurant. If you can't find that gig, come visit us. My wife and I will share a romantic dinner as you serenade us with your great playing. If you take requests...well, how about that obscure one "Goodnight" on the White Album?

Thanks Again! (And keep the songs coming!)
