Well as all of you know we lost Leon, on 6 Feb of this year and the loss was painful and devastating for us, but we know Leon, lives on due to some signs we received 2 days after he passed. So it's time to take a couple more souls on their journey of life.

After putting my feelers out there we found a reputable breeder in VT whose girl had puppies on the 28th of March.

I found out this weekend, that I was approved after completing a rigourous 3 page application for a puppy. I purchased my plane ticket and on 22 May I get to pick up the pup pup and flying back with him. He'll be riding in the cabin with me. I'm sure he'll fit under the seat in a special carry on but if for some reason he won't then I'll be driving home with him.

We've decided to name him Stanley.

In addition we decided to get another rescue as well who needs a home. He's 9 years old and 2 months and is a very good doggy. The number 9 tends to keep people away sometimes so whats another 4 feet and a bag of food and treats. We get to get loved on more. He's had surgery and he had to be shaved but his hair will grow back. His name is Benny, and we're so eager to get him home as well.

We were going to just go mad and get Jiggie as well but he's been or is in the process of being adopted.

Sorry to put this here but I wanted to share this wonderful news and the traffic here is much higher.

Hi Loly,

Congratulations. I remember how hard it was when we lost our first beloved Norwegian elkhound, the house seemed cold for weeks. My husband said he understood for the first time why we speak of 'warm companionship'. And I also remember how excited we were when we brought home our present elkhound as a pup - a 9 hour round trip to upstate New York and back on a very hot Fourth of July. Fortunately we'd bought a car with A/C for the first time the previous year, for the benefit of our old timer. I do hope you don't have to drive all the way from Vermont to Florida, though - could be quite a challenge with a puppy!

Wishing you many happy times with Stanley and Benny,

Donna

Cngratulations, loly! Those pups are adorable, and Benny looks like a sweetie, too. I had cousins of my Mom's who owned Airedales and Wire Foxes and I remember them as being fun dogs. I know you will love them dearly and they will return every bit of it!

Oh Lucky dogs and luck you. I think you must be a very generous soul indeed to take in a 9 year old dog. My heart just is lightened to think that someone would be willing to do that. Congratulations on all your new babies. Happy

I think it's a great policy to adopt a rescue with every 'planned' puppy! I advocate that with cat people too (I used to show cats).

My hats off to you for being able to deal with that terror...er terrier mindset. I had a Wire Fox as a kid and she and I did not see eye to eye...I wanted to do obedience training (well, so did she but she wanted me to obey *her*!). You'd think as a cat person that wouldn't bother me.

I'll stick with dogs who accept "because I said so" as an answer LOL

What a kind and wonderful person you are to include in your household the 9 year old. We get all our feline friends from the animal shelter---except for my present one which adopted me. She came to my door as an abandonded stray, one wet and stormy night---skin and bones starving, sopping wet, and terrified. I opened a can of albacore tuna, and she decided this would be a good place to stay. So after thoroughly inspecting the house, she curled up at the foot of my bed, and purred herself to sleep. She has been with me now for 5 wonderful years.
