My biggest weakness to date has been my left hand. I can knock out melodies and chords quite quickly but am always unsure as to how to accompany them with the left.

Has anyone some nice bass patterns I can work with - I'm talking popular music. If I play chords with the left hand am I correct in saying that they can only be played in the octave directly below middle C as any lower they sounds much too bassy?

Would appreciate some comment, thanks

there're some regular patterns for accompanying, which you might find in some accompanying technique books or pop music arrangement books. the common ones of course are chords, arpeggios, alberti bass type of figurations, triplets sort of things.

if i were you, i'd find some pop sheet music which has both bass and treble (not just melody lines), and study the figuration used in them and learn from such examples.
