Well, according to my record, I practiced 13 hours, 12 minutes, 12 seconds last week (yes I am that exact with it :P). Yesterday I started of the week well with 1 hour, 46 minutes, 21 seconds. Not really as much as I wanted, but at least it's something. I'm shooting for 3 hours today, and would be really happy if I got 4.

I'm on spring break, and don't have a piano, but one of my friends is allowing me to practice at his house for as long as I want, which is incredibly nice. They have an old baby grand piano that no one ever uses, that I think was his great grandmothers.

I should mention I'm not an adult beginner. I hope that doesn't matter, because I need motivation just like everyone else. smile

Um... I fell off the wagon. Friday 27 Feb was my 40th birthday, so the 28th was out of the question for me. And so was the 1 March.

I am happy to say that my fingers seem to have enjoyed the break. smile
Now what do I need to do to get back into your good books?

I'm not sure how this is supposed to work, if we are supposed to write regular progress reports or just 'fess up if we miss practise? Anyway so far I haven't missed a day, 1-2 hrs practise (hour before work and whatever I can fit in later in the day) and I'm making steady progress. Nearing the end of Alfred book 1, working on the Entertainer now then it's on to Amazing Grace before I begin Book 2 smile

Hey BazC. Good question. I have been practicing steadily and haven't missed a day. A couple of times I have just played one song just to keep my status. I keep a practice log the old fashion way (Pencil and paper). I am in the same place in Alfreds as you are. I am Polishing Hes got the whole world and The Entertainer. Working on Amazing Grace. See you in Book 2

I have done really well! I missed last Friday but I have an excuse! My 18 month old had a febrile seizure and we were at the hospital for a while. After that, I just wanted to watch him to make sure he was ok. He seems fine now.

Am I still on the "pure" list? I'm pretty sick with a sinus infection/body aches and my arms are really heavy, but I played through a Chopin Nocturne one time before getting a bit light headed and quit. My goal was to practice *every* day this year and so far so good. What do you think? Counts? Or excused sick day?

You played - it counts. Besides, it counts double when you're sick.

I noticed I was not on the list. Please sign me up as of March 1st. I have been practicing every day since then. However, I will be on vacation from March 10 - 13, back on the 14th.
Thanks Joel

I hope your son is getting better! I have missed one day so far, but I am continuing to plug at playing:-). I am going to practice a little bit tonight before I go to sleep, since I need some down time after writing "paper of the week" Take care, all

He is better, thank you! I am going to visit family this weekend but I think I can fit it in. I love this accountability! How many of you use http://www.pcsincnet.com to keep a record of practice?

Hi! It's great to hear that your son is gettng better! I have just gotten of of pscincnet.com to log in my practice times.I try to do it every other day or so because between work and grad school, I don't want to see the computer at times!! I also put my times down on a spread sheet on my desktop so that I can keep track. Weekends when I am not at church are my best times for practicing. take care and stay dry! This weather is definitely for the ducks... but we need every drop!

I had a whole week of practicing anywhere from 5-20 minutes per day... but I practiced every day! I had the flu and it was miserable. I ached all the time and was so tired. Today I made some good progress and it was great to be back on the piano for a full hour. I was afraid it would take getting used to to go back to playing for a longer period of time, but it actually didn't take much effort on my part at all! Just sit down and practice. It was great. It was a lot easier for me to start falling into the trap of playing through pieces rather than working them, but I managed to get back on track most of the time and even recorded myself. I'm actually getting pretty close on the piece I'm working on for the Chopin Nocturne recital in October. I was just listening to it, and I didn't realize how badly out of tune my piano was until hearing a recording of it! Ugh, not so pretty.

I also log my practice times on pscincnet. I really like using it.

Take me off. I've had too many depressive episodes lately. I haven't managed to practice everyday.

Sorry I'm late, Frank had to fix my login.

Please still let me join since at 54 just started adult group beginner lessons 1/17, really need discipline in time for practice dept. Out of 8, teacher picked me 3/14 to do recital in Jun, scared to death. Don't want the little ones to show me up too badly!

Going to be really tough this week due to doing the Cincy Mini Show without my mother to help packing. She recently had major back surgery. Has meant all-nighters in past to get ready even with her!

Even though it is only 45 minutes away, does that count as out of town since it is all day both Sat & Sun? I know, already making excuses! Rock on!

Um, can I get a sick day if my baby is sick? She's very needy and pretty darned sick. I haven't practiced yet today and am still hopeful, but just in case I can't get to it...

OK, that's a moot point now since she went to bed with her dad instead of insisting she be with me (which was the case last night). I'm feeling pretty blessed that I was able to sit at the piano tonight for a good, long while!

I'm still going strong. On busy days, I just play a song just to keep up. I'm slowly learning how to read music a little better, and have taught myself Pride & Prejudice's 'Dawn'. It's such a beautiful song. I've memorized it now and am happy I'm able to play it. I'm still a very slow reader, though...

Currently, I'm slowly working on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata - 2nd Movement. It's the shortest and easiest of the 3, in my opinion. I'll attempt the 1st movement once I'm done with the 2nd, then, if I ever live long enough to try it, I'll eventually learn the 3rd movement. My goal is to be able to read and play the 3rd movement in 10 years!! Heh heh.

Thanks for this great MOYD idea. I think it really works...

Dina.
