Seaside Lee mentioned he loaded one of mine on to his mini disc. It got me thinking about whose I have recorded onto portable media.....
1 - Mr Super Hunky's Angel Eyes and Lake Erie Rainfall version 2 (of 57)
2 - Dannylux's Vincent
3 - Monica Kern's Home ( i really liked the simplicity ofthe rythym compared to Nevues recording, and Cristofori's Dream.
4 - Johnny Boy's Remembering Her and Till Death do us part
5 - Seaside Lee's More and The Way we Were
6- Mike Whites Yellow Bird and (i think) Autumn Leaves
7 - ShiroKuro's River
8 - Euan Morrisons recording of the piece from the Pianist movie (the one in the cafe)
I've really collected some great free music!!!

Which piece has Euan recorded? I know it's played in the cafe scene, but I don't know which piece is it. Please... anyone?
And in my twisted face... there's not the slightest trace of anything that even hints at kindness...

Hi Alvaro, It was the first recital, back in February when I did it - I think I have since taken it off my webspace (it was pretty poor, really!)
The piece is called "Umowilem sie z nia na dziewiata" (i made a date with her at 9) by Polish songwriter Henryk Wars.
Good luck trying to find it!!

I took to downloading the recitals on my computer hard drive and every once in a while play them again. I probably listen to Euan's Einaudi reordings the most, because they give me ideas as to which pieces I should tackle next. p.s. I cringe when I hear my first Home recording, stephenc! The timing is horribly off, and the whole thing is WAY too slow. Just goes to show that we are our own harshest critics.

Stephen: To me, the BEST of the best recordings are the ones you don't even have to think about for more than a few seconds. For me, my top 5 are (in no particular order) .Monica's "Christofori's Dream". I am curently working on a much "faster and improvised" (or add-libbed) version of it as I liked her version so much. .Stephenc's "Lake eerie Rainfall" AS wriitem by Jim Brickman....incredible job, almost proffesionally perfect! .Balladeers's "Phantom of the opera", another instant hit. .Anything from Mike White and Roger Ransom...those two should be booted out of the "beginer" forum btw!! . several of Kawaigirl and seaside Lee's recordings. I forgot the names, but if I looked them up, that would be cheating! BTW, Stephen. This is a great topic. I was even considering starting a 2006 "ABF forum Greatest Hits" or "Best Of" thread in which everyone on this forum would submit their absolute "best" recording for 2006. Actually, I think I will do it, but lets wait until after the upcoming Holiday recital, possibly in early december. Besides, that will give me a chance to fine tune my recording methods and also work on version # "58" of Lake eerie Rainfall.!! :p

Don't forget, I AM a beginning reader.
It still blows my mind to think that someone in Australia, (StephenC), is listening to me play on a portable audio device, music that he recorded from the internet! Technology is really something. Mike White

Hey Mike, for what it's worth: I really like your Chopin Waltz 19 from the first recital! Never heard that tune before, but it rocks! I like that about those recitals/piano bars: a lot of great music that I didn't know about. As for the question from the topic, I have almost every recording anyone posted here in the last 6 months or so on my iPod.

Thanks mahlzeit, I'm working on Mazurka Op. 17, No 4 and Minute Waltz, but progress has slowed since the weather here has been so nice. I tend to spend more time outdoors in spring and fall.
Have you heard Ben Laude's Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto # 1, duo piano version? It's in Member recordings. I have listened to it many times on my portable Mp3 player while walking, biking, etc. Mike White

I third that...with hesitation... Will some folks feel bad if they aren't "pirated"??.....
Does it add a level of competition that we might not want??
Just thoughts......
It's the journey not the destination..

Sandy:
Everyone would submit (one) song of their choice; a former recital submission, piano bar song, or anything that they choose.
It would kind of be your musical "avatar" so to speak. Nobody is voting or anything like that.
It is any song that you are most proud of.

This is gonna be fun! Good idea S-H! I can't wait to hear what everybody has been doing since I strayed from the PW because of illness and an old (now retired) computer. Just hurry up because the waiting is already getting too hard to take. Wolf Oh yeah, one of my favorite's was Balladeer's Phantom song. It still lives on the old computer and I can't get to it.
I have my own weapon of mass destruction in the form of a "teenage" German Shepherd. Anything she spies and can get ahold of is fair game.
