Yes, I'm finally going to play the Rachmaninoff Prelude in C# minor that I've been working on since January. Jazzyprof and I started at the same time, but he played it two recitals ago! Someone is an overachiever!

I just ordered Gilels CD of this piece, so I'm going to try to figure out how he plays it so expressively and copy it as best I can.

Between now and then I'll be battling the red dot for the Chopin Prelude Recital.

In. Probably a Chopin etude.

Definitely in. I'm trying to decide between a Nevue piece, an Einaudi piece (naturally), and a third piece. I haven't recorded any of them yet, though, so I'll probably go with the one with the fewest bloopers.

Gotta be in! I've not been around much for the past month because of quite a few things going on and not only has this kept me from the forums (I see I've missed ALOT of really GREAT stuff and will try to catch up some today), it's affected my practice time considerably frown
Probably about the best I will have ready by November is a fairly simple Nevue or Tiersen piece (and even that is going to require me kicking my own tail to get it up to par in time!).

Is this separate from the Christmas recital?

Yes. The Christmas recital will be like the regular piano bar; people just add to one thread with all their Christmas music submissions. The Nov. 15th recital will be like our regular recitals, with the added polish of using mahlzeit's fancy new automated web-based submission process.

I am probably out for this one. I've got two out of town trips coming up, and then I have to have a bit of surgery done mid-October, so I really have no idea where all of that is going to leave me with practice and recording. I will try for the Dec. holiday music thread, tho.

I think I'll be in for my first recital. Having braved the red dot in the Sept. piano bar, and then further making a fool of myself doing chopsticks, I think I am ready for a recital. laugh

Ok I am new to this recital thing. I've been playing the piano for almost 3 months now. What can the recital songs be?

I am piano noob today; I will be piano pro tomorrow.

Started Piano 7-2007.

By the way, call me Yang. smile

I'm in. I'll either do a Haydn sonata or a CHopin polonaise - whichever is in better shape by then.

Can it be time for another recital already? Didnt we just do one?

What about the Prelude recital - dont we get extra credit for that?

In.

Don't know the piece yet, but it will be short and simple.

I'm in.

I'm hoping to have all three movements of Clementi Op 36.1 ready by then. I'm just trying to increase the tempo right now.

Ah but half the fun is in the anticipation, Schubertian. wink The next recital isn't until Nov. 15, and I'll post the call for submissions on Nov. 1. This is the warm-up, so to speak, and to get the attention of the newbies so they can start lining up their recording gear and selecting a piece etc.

Not sure if I'm in or not. I've been away from the piano for three weeks and am about to leave for another 10 days so I'm certain I won't have the piece ready that I wanted to ready in time. I hope to be able to submit something though.

I'm going to try to submit the Debussy that I punted at the last recital.

If I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.

PianoN00b - yes! 99.99% of the fun of a recital is to hear the wide variety of pieces, so please play! And, go for it, Rosanna!

We're playing a dance on Nov 10, and I have to tell you I have a real narrow range of possibilities at any one time ("if you could play any piece, what would it be?" - whatever I have to play next Saturday night!) so it'll most likely be a medley of 32-bar AABB traditional tunes that I've found a way to honky-tonk up at dance speed so I can take one round of the melody. Not the most traditional of recital repertoire (but the Square Dance medley in the Sept piano bar was a representative of the Sat night dance genre, and well done, too) but ya do whatcha can do. Some day I'll do that Joplin waltz, but not likely this time, again.

So, back to the keyboard - at jam Sunday the fiddle played the medley at a little faster than dance and left me in the dust - I'm only up to about 105, and he must have been at 118 or something. Got some work to do -

I'm in. I don't know what I'll play yet, but more than likely some "great american songbook" / jazz standard type of song.
