My piano has arrived! laugh It was delivered on Tues, 11/23. It's taken this long to get photos back to post with my *New Piano Announcement*. Actually, that worked out well, allowing more time to devote to other things i.e. - getting acquainted with MY NEW PIANO. It's a 1920 Steinway A3 rebuilt by Acme piano in Somerville Mass. laugh (Sorry, I can't contain myself. Somebody quick, stuff me back into my box or something...)

Here's how Delivery Day went..

**************************************************
11/23/04 Tuesday Afternoon - Watching & Waiting

My piano is due to be delivered after 12 noon today. smile

It's 11:45. My husband, Lloyd, just arrived home. He took half a day off work so he can be here when MY PIANO arrives.

So we wait.

12:15 p.m.: "I don't see any piano shaped trucks," says Lloyd looking out the window.

12:30 p.m.: We're eating lunch now. Still no piano. (No pickles for our sandwiches either says Lloyd.)

12:45 p.m.: I say to Lloyd: "Maybe I should say a few words to my piano (the Kimball spinet I've played all these years) to cushion the blow."

"Don't you think she already knows her big sister is coming?" asks Lloyd.

12:50 p.m. I say a few words to my trusty spinet. She's been a good companion lo these many years. Exactly what I said - as Lloyd says - that's between me and my piano.

1:02 p.m. Lloyd: "Maybe the truck is like one of those car carriers only with pianos on it." (Right.)

1:25 p.m. Lloyd: "I think they just went down the street the other way - it's a piano shaped truck." False alarm. No truck. No piano. Not yet.

We're now referring to "piano shaped truck" as a PST.

1:35 p.m. Still no PST.

1:45 p.m.: Lloyd: "Where's the piano? Why isn't it here?"

1:50 p.m. A UPS truck goes down the street.

2:05 p.m. Budweiser, Pella window, and Fed X and several little box trucks with no names on them have gone down the street.

2:20 p.m.: Lloyd asks: "Are you nervous?"……No, I'm not……He wants to know why……I don't know why. I'm not nervous, I'm excited!

2:35 p.m. I hear a truck - but it keeps on going.

2:45 p.m. I phone the piano movers for an update. I'm told the piano movers are almost at the rebuilding shop where they will pick up my piano, then they're coming to our house. Delivery should be within an hour.

3:20 p.m. A PIANO MOVING TRUCK JUST PULLED UP… OH! IT'S MY PIANO!

Jeanne - What on earth are you trying to do to us. SHOW THE PIX OF THE PIANO! I'm so glad you posted. I was beginning to worry that you had run off to that "other" place too. So how is it????????

Jeanne-

Took a break from the books and saw your post. Congrats on your new piano. In a couple of years and a bar exam, I hope to one day post pictures here also.

Many happy years with your new pal.

Wow! Definitely worth the wait! Beautiful red piano in a yellow room (my color scheme too).

Is it mahogany or rosewood?

Helloooo, Kathy:

Are you out there? In a previous post, you saw a "good luck" orb in the photograph Teachum posted of her new Estonia - and said you hoped to see an orb in my piano. The next photo is for you, Kathy. Do you see an orb in my piano?

[Linked Image]

Did you see an orb, Kathy? eek If not, here's another photo - can you see an orb in this one?

[Linked Image]

What do you think, Kathy? laugh (Really hoping you're out there, Kathy.)

HEY, EVERYONE: I LOVE MY PIANO!

I'll post again later. Right now….

I'M GOING TO….

P.S. Axtremus: We took a photo from underneath the piano for you but it didn't come out. (Whenever there's a piano around, Axtremus disappears underneath, flashlite in hand, to inspect underneath the piano.) Ax, we expect a scholarly paper from you sometime soon discussing the finer points of soundboard construction.

Jeanne W,

Congratulations! Nice piano! Now, I can tell it's not black, but I can't really tell it's red. Wanna take another photo? laugh

Yours are much more pronounced than mine. I'm sure it is a very special and blessed by the universe piano!! Congratulations. I'm glad your wait is over. Now the fun starts - getting to know it.

Jeanne, that is one heck of a piano. What a beauty!!! I think it was Katie who spoke of the orb - but, in my estimation, you've definitely got one there. Enjoy! And, I'll be there for you first PW party.

JEANNE, very nice grand - looks mighty cold where you are. I noticed the casters as well. As we have wood floors as well - just curious what they are made of and where did you get them. Florida (hurricane season is officially over)
