56. Just too experience the pure wonder when these little dots, circles, and lines on a piece of paper turn into physical accomplishment, mental amazement, and pure sound/music. (I never get over experiencing a new piece!)

62. Patience..

..playing the piano helps me to be patient not only with myself, but with the progress of learning each new piece and to really understand and feel the music. Might be painful and frustrating at times..or seems to take for ever.. but I think it's all worthwhile..

We pianists are really a privileged and blessed lot.

76. (Not trombones!) To fulfill a life-long dream!

52 and starting to learn. Wanted to play piano since 10 and forced into violin. Mom sold paternal grandmother's piano two years later.

Nov got a 1919 Duo-Art Weber reproducing upright player, virgin, needs restored. Currently saving pennies for that.

Now looking at a Roland FP7 DP to learn on in the meantime.

Am I allowed to list more than one at a time?

79. To sooth the savage beast. We have two Yorkies and adopted two abandoned cats. They come running to hear the piano but couldn't care less about TV or stereo.

80. To express with our hands what our hearts feel.

81. To add sunshine to a cloudy day. Just thinking about my piano brightens the days I am too busy with work.

82. To relive wonderful memories of the past with family and friends.

83. To preserve a little of the past when everything wasn't artificial and mass-produced. We have lived for 21 yrs in an 1886 Queen Anne home now with my 1919 Weber upright player, got Nov '06.

84. To gain the confidence to make mistakes on the way to mastering a desired milestone.

85. To set a goal and bit by bit finally achieve it.

Can you tell I am a new learner and still really enthusiastic?!

95. Impresses people better than solving a Rubik's Cube.

96. It's the instrument that you can play with your nose and feet.

97. So you can add music stores to the list of places you waste your time at.

98. You can say musical terminology, and people will think that you speak Italian.

99. You can shock people when they look at your iPod, because it is full of classical music.

100. You can get musical humor.
