Stories, eh? I suppose my latest one happened on Sunday afternoon. I went cycling over some high ground about 4 or 5 miles from my house. The weather was warm, but cloudy. Out of nowhere, the heavens just opened, and myself and my bike got soaked very quick. I thought 'No problems', I shall push on. Then I saw lightning not too far away. So I was in the middle of nowhere, on a bike, with lightning nearby. I think I would have given Lance a run for his money, because I sprinted home as fast as I could pedal! [Sorry, there isn't a lot of excitement in my part of the world - that's the best I could do Surely someone has been skydiving, wrestled a crocodile, wing-walked etc recently?!]

This is not an every day experience (thank God) but I was recently in a flash flood in Ohio. I'm an artist and bring my paintings around to various art shows around the country. I was in a show in Boston Mills (just outside Cleveland). We were all set up for a wine and cheese opening night when the sky opened. It poured. There is a stream that comes down just to the side of the show and it grew and grew and grew. Finally a tree came washing down, hit a bridge and that began the flow of water into the show tents. I was in three feet of water at my booth. I put half my work up on my booth ceiling and tried to keep my booth from getting knocked over (luckily I had it braced well). There were some that lost their entire booth and pots, paintings and you name it flowed past. By 9pm it was over and the water was subsiding. Then of course we were standing in about 6 inches of mud... The only good thing to come of the night was the fact that cases of wine also flowed into the tent and most of us were extremely corked by the end of the evening. Here is a link to the show pictures http://bmbw.com/BosMills/bmphotogallery.php?categoryid=17&img_count=14

Glad you could pedal, Euan. When my husband was a teenager he actually survived a lightening strike when he got caught out in the weather like you. It knocked him about six feet backwards and unconscious.

I went to a Los Lonely Boys concert the Friday before last at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom in Hampton, New Hampshire. For those that don't know, they are a blues/rock band of the genere and skill of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmy Hendrix. I went with my father who is a diehard fan and had gotten skybox seats from his job. As we were walking in, there was a guy wearing an LLB teashirt, hat, and cowboy boots walking in front of us. He was video taping the area which wasn't particularly interesting IMHO and it seemed a little odd. He spun around and tape my father and I as we walked by and said "Hi guys" or something to that effect. We politely replied and continued to walk inside to watch the show. It was a really enjoyable concert, and for a finale, the boys announced they were gonna bring out a special guest, their father, to play with them. So Out walks the guy we walked in with who was now donning a cowboy hat and an old fender strat. He proceded to play a couple old time hits like Old Prison Blues. It was a fun night for us and apparently, we are a part of the LLB hampton homevideo!

Mr. Mr_Superhunky! You've already known our interests, our background, our lookings and ages, now you want us to tell you stories, what else you want know deeply? Maybe one day, you would like to meet everybody? But honestly, because of you, we never feel lonely, you make the forum more interesting, and you make the members more colse, more like a family. I love your ideas! I have lots of stories, but at this moment I can think nothing, because I have a really mess holiday! When my holiday began, my parents had a heavy cold and cough, I looked after them for about a week, when they were getting better, I have a cold and cough, and lost voice for three days! I'm a talkative person at home, but three days I couldn't speak at all. Moreover, I expected to improve my piano skill little bit in this holiday, but until now, I haven't touched one key . My holiday still has one and half week remain, I wish the story will end with a happy ending.

The first time I tore all the ligaments in my ankle and couldn't walk for a couple of weeks. So.......I had to prove that I could actually do it without injuring myself, so I jumped the second time...without injury!

A couple of months ago, I awoke early on a sunny Saturday morning. A devious plan began to uncoil itself in my mind... I crept to the kitchen where there was a bag of the large marshmallows. I grabbed my 8-year old's sidewalk chalk and went outside. I lined up marshmallows about three feet apart, and then at the end of the line, put a small pile of them. Then, with Julia's chalk, I drew an arrow to the pile, and below that, wrote in shaky letters, [sic]"Snowman Terds." I went back in the house and made coffee, read the paper, and relaxed. Later on, I heard my wife yelling from the deck, "WHAT is THAT?!?" I went out, acting innocent, and she was pointing at the "terds," which the sun had melted to white blobs. Julia was squatted down, poking at them with a stick and saying, "Ewwwwwwwwwwwww....."

One more: A couple of years ago I was in the atlanta airport while it was storming. While looking at the storm I noticed it was directly over us. The next thing I saw was a bolt of lightning strike a light pole 20 feet from where I was looking out the window. I felt a shook under my metal seat. Later in the same terminal their was comotion and they grounded all flights. The storm had passed but the guy said that the wind was too much for the plane to take off. I went to get some ice cream, and went into a shop called the Hudson News. On the tv there I read on the little crawling line the following: Today at 2:24 (It was 2:38) the Atlanta airport recived a bomb threat and has grounded all flights. What a day

Rocky: I always wanted to go skydiving; I mean, thats just got to be the ultimate thrill. Its just that I can't get over this vision of me pulling the chute cord and all that comes out of the pack is a bunch of forks and knives like in the cartoons!!

mr_S-H, well when I jumped I was hooked to a static line, so I didn't have to pull the rip cord. However, there was still the possibility of the parachute not opening correctly! My jumps were only from 3,000 feet. It was a little bitty plane (only holds 4 people). I had to sit in the door of the plane first, then put my foot on the little tiny step and reach out and grab ahold of the wing and then they tell you to let go! Wooohooo!!! It was exciting I have to admit. And floating down to the earth was something else...so peaceful. Now, the landings, another story. They taught us how to land and roll. Well.....when I landed it was....SPLAT!!!
It was a great experience, but one I don't think I will ever do again. My younger sister actually made over 200 jumps!

Neat stories! rocky, I've always had a secret hankering to skydive, but I've read too many horror stories about skydiving fatalities to actually do it. Peyton, your flash flood story was truly scary. Three feet of water is more than enough to sweep away and drown people. Glad you were all right. I have one sort of scary lightning story. Some years ago I was out for a run, and one of the afternoon thunderstorms we get in Kentucky summers came up. I like to run in the rain so I didn't give it a second thought and kept running. A few minutes later there was the brightest lightning flash I had ever seen and a simultaneous[/b] horrendous thunder boom. I thought to myself "yikes, THAT was close! I better be careful" and kept on going. Five minutes later an ambulance came by with sirens blaring. I found out later that the lightning had hit and killed a teenage girl who was outside holding a rake less than a quarter mile from where I had been running. I guess it wasn't my time to go, but I hate to think it was hers... For a more recent story, I will leave you all with a description of just one of the disasters in my disaster-plagued vacation. (Let's just say I now need a new vacation to get over my vacation!) This happened yesterday, as we were going through Customs in Atlanta. We walked up to the Customs desk that was manned by a stern-looking official from the Department of Homeland Security. My 7-year-old son, who is PDD (mildly autistic), somehow got it into his head to look straight at the official and utter the following: "You mediocre pretentious little mollusk!" (This is a line of dialogue from SpongeBob Squarepants, but unfortunately for us, the customs official evidently missed that episode.) I am not joking when I say that handcuffs were produced.

So,Mr. S-H, you want a story, eh? Anything goes, eh? Okay - I'll dip into my brain and try to come up with something. Mmmmmmm. Thinking. It takes a while, ya know. Ah - I've got something. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing is knew, nothing exciting. Just same old stuff, but happy - that's a plus [buy Markb's piano] .... it's always a plus to be happy. At work - that's good - work is good and [buy Markb's piano] I always enjoy coming into the city. So that's about it.... I'll probably edit this when I get inspiration but other than that [buy Markb's piano] all I have to say, really. My birthday is tomorrow...if anyone is interested. I've already picked out something pretty that I'm sure my husband won't mind seeing on the credit card - (hehehehehehe).... oh, and I'm celebrating the 4th anniversary of my 39th year - so that's a major WOOT! But it's more than just getting older it's actually [buy Markb's piano] means to me that I'm getting better.... Excellent idea for a thread - as always, Mr. S-H. Nice readings off of everyone. Peace... and if anyone is interested they should really look into buying Markb's piano. He's a great guy - I met him in person - fun character - (hope he thinks the same of me).... and I know for a fact his piano is for sale. Later, gang! Sincerely..... Sharon (who's given up smoking some years back, but just likes this graemlin).

Hmmm- a story, huh? Well, ok- Those (few) of you who have poked about on my web pages will probably have figured out that I am mildly Journey obssessed...(Ok, maybe a bit more than "mildly"!) So we went to see them (and Def Leppard) last week at the Mohegan Sun Casino arena in CT. After the show, we were walking around the place, trying to figure out where we wanted to go to get something to eat- and keeping an eye out for random band members, as they often wander about after shows at these type of places. So, I am talking to my husband, with my head turned, when he says: "Aren't you stopping?" I said (very coherently!): "huh?" He replied that Jon (Jonathan Cain, keyboard player) was "over there." Turned my head and sure, enough- there he was, surrounded by fans. Now, not only is he my favorite member of the band because he plays piano beautifully (and not just r'n'r- jazz and new agey stuff, too), but he is also the "rock star crush" I never got over! Now, I have talked to him before, but will never miss an opportunity! So I walked over, Mike had the camera out, and told him how great the show was, and we chatted for a moment. I was just about to ask if I could get a picture, when he got a phone call- I believe from his wife (Darn her! lol), so I didn't get my picture. It's ok, I have others. So then a bit later, we are in one of the restaurants, and Neal Schon (guitar) and Ross Valory (bass) are at the table across from us. I did not bother them while they were eating, but one of the girls called then, and I was telling her that we were right across from "Neal and Ross" as I looked up at them and just at that moment, Neal looked up and he must have read my lips, 'cause I got this great big grin! It was a good night!!
Sooooo- that's my story of the day.....
