Combining Sudnow with traditional teacher?

New Adult beginner here, and after reading about the Sudnow course, I ordered it and received it two days ago. My goal is to play for pleasure, and develop the ability to play by ear. Nothing against the concept of reading music and grasping the fundamentals of traditional piano instruction, but would like to get to a point of "hearing" some progress sooner(6 months to a year), rather than later. So the question is: Would it be advisable to seek out a traditional teacher while going through the Sudnow course on my own?? Would I be compromising both efforts?? Or would combining the two be a bit synergistic??

Many teachers have their own styles and methods, and it may be hard to balance both, so you'd likely have to decided which one to prioritize.
since you'll be paying for the lessons as well, and, many teachers would want to see you studying their assignments so that they can keep you moving forward based on their methods , you may want to talk to them about this idea, and let them decide the best way to approach combining the two.
