Even though I already have a piano I can't help looking around at pianos for sale just to see what kind of cool deals are out there. Well, I found a really cool one on eBay. It's Bob Crosby's (Bing's brother) Mason and Hamlin piano. I would LOVE to buy this one but my wife tells me I'm dead if I go for it. Here is the link if anyone is interested in having a look. I think it would be cool to have a piano formerly owned by a famous musician.

Yeah, the only other one I ever saw like that was when Ronnie Milsap donated a piano of his to an organization to sell. That one was way out of my reach. But that one of Bob Crosby's - it isn't out of reach and it sure gets my imagination going - Bing could have even played it.

Well, it's a great story...but I'm not sure about the piano itself. I don't think the 60s were known as Mason & Hamlin's glory decade, and a piano that's been stored in a garage for some time is bound to have taken a beating. And it looks rather on the short side, so the tone may not be anything special even without the garage factor.

But if you want to go for it, Ken, here's how to handle the reluctant wife factor: Bring home a bouquet of roses and tasteful diamond stud earrings, preferably just before telling her you placed the winning bid on the piano. :p

Hi Monica,

I read her your advice and she said something about new living room furniture. I wonder if I should point out that a piano IS furniture??? ha ha laugh
