Dear All,

I'm a true beginner, I've been wandering about this... What is Minuet? May be it's just an identifier name of Bach's composition. Do other composer use the word Minuet too?

and Sonata, fugue...?

it's a dance name, and therefore it's the music for that particular dance.

btw, all those can be looked at Wiki pages, if you do a search online. another thing you can do is to buy a music dictionary (Harvard or Oxford Music Dictionary) which contains all explanations for those terms.

Minuet refers to a dance, as signa pointed out. It's worth pointing out that these are very often stylized dances in this context and not actually danceable. wink


Close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and nuclear weapons.
