find another teacher who could really help you, but don't get another one like the one you had before. at the same time, read some music theory books!

Pianolady: Have you tried any computer learning? My teacher had me doing a lesson/week on her computer during my regularly scheduled piano lesson for about the first 6 months. Sometimes people will learn through different methods. I would agree with signa you might try interviewing for a new teacher.
And welcome to the forum. \:\)

again, i'd say, read some music theory book (for beginners) to learn about reading notes and more! you have to learn something on your own. even a teacher cannot help you with everything.

More time studying and less time on the net might solve your problem ;\) .

Don't despair!!

Find another teacher, call up a local college or even the HS music dept. They can get you started. There are, as others suggested, loads of computer assisted instructional tool that you might find helpful.

Keep at it !!

It took me well over a month to learn the basic notes. I just had to memorize them a few each day. I would then go back over the ones I had already learned to reinforce my memory.

Don't let anyone ever tell you you can't do it. A number of years back I worked as a flight instructor and my specialty was students that other flight instructors gave up on. Every student I had passed their FAA flight tests. It just takes some of us longer to reach our goals.

Sincerely,
Steve
