Hi I have as you know taken up the keys again after 6 years off with injurys and boredom and have now for the past few months been trying to get my chops back in order but i think I now need help.

I can play to grade 6 ABRSM electronic piano standard
but I seem to be having problems and I hope you all on here can give me some guidance please.

I seem to have hit a plateau not so much on the hardness of a piece but how it fits under my fingers . Some things like comfortably numb , Cats in the cradle etc seem to take 2 or 3 days at most and esp the former can get tricky in pieces but I try something similar and I cannot get anywhere.

Now I was thinking that I need to set up 1 hour a day for practice and maybee another hour spread throught the day.

I am luck to have a scales book that covers all scales with thirds tenths sixths, contary motion octaves double thirds chromatics broken chords apreggios etc and a complete book of czerny (I have found this better than hannon in the past) not to mention lots of sheet music.

Now would I be better taking say the odd 10 minuits throughout the day to go through scales hannon etc and spend the solid hour block on learning new pieces or would it be better the other way around.

whilst I am here I get the basics of the circle of fiths I think but does anybody have a diagram that they could post here so I could print it out as I want to get on with learning chords etc. I know some as I startewd out playing arranger style keyboards and organs for the first few years of my playing life.

many thanks in advance and thanks for reading this far

Sorry I can't really help with your problem, but I just wanted to say: WHAT A FANTASTIC QUOTE! \:\)

With regards to your 10 minutes / 1 hour problem - maybe one week you could spend the bulk on the pieces.

If you have any difficulties with the fingers, you could spend the bulk of the time on the exercises the next week, choosing the ones that are relevant to the pieces?

Do a search on "circle of 5ths" you'll find hundreds. Print one you like.

I think your one hour practical 10 mins technical is a fair plan.

I like it.

But would a leggy blonde really be likely to hang on to a dying, thoroughly used up, totally worn out body??? \:D

Depends on how much his estate is worth, and who's listed as the beneficiary in the will. Just ask Anna Nicole Smith. ;\)
