please look down further for questions...these are easy so that anyone can answer and doesnt require any work....

O.K. we all know the last experiment didnt work. WHY?? because we focused on perfection---and that put to much pressure on us.....ok, so now instead of thinking about the perfect performance think about what brought on that performance(write it down if you can). for those of you who have been participating you are thinking BUT i dont know
what brought on that perfect performance. I know this is the hardest part to figure out....but i beg to differ that you dont know, it just takes time and a little reading from your previous posts. Now focus on that performance even the measures of your perfect playing where everything flowed. DONT think perfect!!!!! think about what brought it on. PLEASE go read the other post as you guys are brilliant!!! i got so much out of your answers its unbelieveable!!! YOU guys know already, you have put it down on here.

1. have you found out what brought on that great pefect playing?

2. what distractions do you face?

2a. how do you filter out those distractions?

2b. what would help you to filter out those distractions?

2c. if you can filter out distractions at will would that help you become more or less relaxed?

sorry i totally edited this for easier answering. i think i got to deep before and it was to much work. now it is simplified.

again thank-you all for your help with these questions for a friend. almost done...one post to edit to go:)

if anyone read the post before it was edited and actually doing it can you please let me know if it has helped? thank-you again!!!

1. have you found out what brought on that great pefect playing?[/b]

I think it was just the ability, for even a small amount of time, to disconnect the "analytical" part of my brain, and let the "artistic" part take over completely.

2. what distractions do you face?[/b]

Physical distractions would be the dog, music or TV playing loudly, people coming in and out- sometimes actually trying to talk to me. Mental distractions would be over-analyzing and thinking about what I'm trying to play, letting other stuff creep in (thinking about chores I should be doing, grocery lists, dinner), worrying too much what someone else who hears me might be thinking, stuff like that.

2a. how do you filter out those distractions?[/b]

Sometimes I can't. But just stopping for a moment and refocusing- deep breaths, centering, regaining concentration helps. Other times, I just have to get up and do whatever it is that is intruding- put in another load of laundry, write up a short grocery list, take something out of the freezer for dinner....

2b. what would help you to filter out those distractions?[/b]

I'm not really sure

2c. if you can filter out distractions at will would that help you become more or less relaxed?[/b]

I think it would probably help me be more relaxed

Why do I feel like I am late with my homework? What do you mean the one day I ditched class you had the mid-term? Oh, well - tried this yesterday and had no success, much worse - decided to try again this AM with the same results - after reading your "final" post, I think I see why, at least for me....

It did not matter what I stressed on, all I did was change what distracted me. By that I mean, thinking "was this a distraction? Should I stop and write it down? No, wait that thought was a distraction..." I think I need to practice the process so it becomes more natural. At least for now, filtering out distractions is itself a distraction. Funny, but changing my routine a litte changed the results a lot.

You said in your "Final" post that this will continue to be a work in progress, so I will practice this at least once a day for a few weeks to get over the newness of it and will get back to you......
