i guess it's the best to work through some exercises you've done before and refresh everything. we'd all forget some pieces learned if not played for a while. i find myself consistantly revisit some pieces i played before and have to relearn at least most part of it.

Hi mollyp,

One of the biggest problems we all have is moving up in levels too fast.

It is a good idea to have one or two pieces you are working on that stretch yourself a little, but still go back to Alfred's or, maybe better yet, pick up another level one course or level one classical rep book and work through those. You could also look for some level one supplemental books.

Note that if you were using Alfred's Adult level one, it doesn't totally line up with their level one basic course. The back of the book should give you a chart that shows how they line up.

Alfred also has some supplemental books that may be a good way for you to get more material at about the same level.

My primary books right now are Keith Snell Piano Repertoire. Then I supplement in with other books that have songs I want to learn and single sheets as well. If you are learning on your own, you can pick up CD's so you can hear how these pieces sound.
