Has anyone seen the sheet music, actually a lead sheet would be perfect for the incredibly beautiful lullaby from Pan's Labyrinth. It's a very violent movie but I believe it's beautifully done and the music (in my opinion) is wonderful.) I am trying to put together some notes and chords but I am not an 'ear' player and attempting to transcribe something even this simple is difficult for me.

I agree it is very beautiful and I bet it would sound wonderful on piano! I tried to find it several months ago but had little luck. I hope someone can help us!

Me too. The little snippet they play in the movie was very short.

Here's one clue: A forum post elsewhere where some guy just lists the notes, for what I believe is that melody.

I haven't found anything, but you may want to try searching using the original title, "El Laberinto del Fauno"

You may want to search youtube - saw plenty of people playing the theme from the movie there. If you have the patience, you can transcribe it from their play:

As far as the movie itself - I had mixed feelings about it. Too gruesome for kids, too simplistic for adults.

I find this score which is very simple but may be what you are looking for:

Another link is someone's post on a forum and may supplement the above.

SUNNYR

Thank you. That's a very good start. Now that I know the notes and can figure out the chords from the Edsko transcription I think I can come up with something.

I can improvise OK, I just cannot, for the life of me, figure out the basic structure.

Thanks again.

Roger, hope you'll post a recording of your improvisation. The transcription seemed very simplified; I'd love to hear a fuller arrangement. smile

Using the score that SunnyR found, I played this piece as a duet with my daughter, who played the melody line on her flute while I played the bass clef on piano. (I definitely had the easy part!)

Here's the result, and keep in mind that my daughter has only been taking flute for about a year. But I was tickled pink by the result, especially because this is the first duet she's actually deigned to play with me. smile

Monica,

What a wonderful piece. I hadn't heard it before, but it's very haunting.

Two things struck me about this particular recording - one was how well the two of you played together, how in sync the music was, and the other was how well your daughter held the long notes with no wavering, out of tune, or changes in volume - extremely well done!

It must have been really fun to play this together.
