Hi, I was wondering if someone knows anything about this upright piano I have. It is in great shape. First of all this is what it says inside on the gold plating, patent upright action frame, pat feb 3, 1880 no 224003. compogite metallic frame. It has an oblong circle about 3" in length with the number 96759 inside the circle. It also says trademark fischer with an eagle on top of a red white and blue harp with 13 stars. Everything seems to be intact and working. The wood has engraving on both sides of the sheet music pop out tray. That tray also has engraving on it, flower design I would say.The piano is 5ft wide by 4ft 8in high. I would like to know if this was a good manufacture, is the date right. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

It was built after 1890 but before 1895.

To find out anything more, you need an on-site inspection by a qualified piano technician. It most likely needs a lot of work.

Zormpas, Thanks for the info. My daughter use to play it but since has moved out. I was cleaning it the other day and my wife and I were just wondering about it. I know nothing about the piano but the date got me wondering. As far as needing alot of work I don't know anything about that.I'm sure it would need some tuning but all the strings and the wooden key levers and felt is still good. Like you said I'd have to have someone that knows what there looking for to answer about the operation aspects of the piano. As far as the outside it is a beautiful piece. Now I know about when it was made. If anyone has anymore info on this piano please let me know. thanks again Zormpas

Just thought I tell you that what it looks like on the outside is secondary to what the condition is on the inside. After more than a hundred years... I believe that the inside would need alot of work. Has the piano been rebuilt before?

I'm asking this because you said the inside looks good. Have you played it and see if it's responsive and does it sound like how a 'good' piano should sound like to you?

Just my two cents..

Hi nUtChAi, I would say it sounds good to me, But who am I to say. One thing I did notice is the 1st key on the left don't hit anything it moves but no place to hit a string. Also the 25th-29th and 31st ivory key pads are missing. Don't know what happen to those, the kids must of not said anything when they fell off I guess. There is a spare one taped up under the top that opens maybe was from the factory as an extra I'm guessing. As far as I know it hasn't been rebuilt. I was just curious. Most likely worth more to my wife just to keep as a piece of furniture. I'm not into pianos so I would never have it rebuilt. She just wanted me to find out a little about it for her. Thanks for all your inputs though.

It was a nice piano in its day. Fischer was a good make back then, but it sounds like it is past its prime.

I think it's pritty cool to have something that old to talk about. But I guess it's like an old car, you can rebuild it, but it still rides like an old car. Anways thanks to everyone for the help. Just think it's another year older now. Happy New Year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
