In Peter Corriaggio's 'Perfekt Practice he states " What you study at the beginning and at the end of each practice session is remembered best. You will learn more if you practice in many short sessions each day instead of one long session."
For example, a one hour session has 2 learning peaks, two 30 min sessions have four learning peaks, six 10 minute sessions will have 12 learning peaks.

I've heard that this holds true for learning in general. I definitely feel it's true for me.

Even if that is true it'd be hard for me to sit at the piano for 10 minutes and then leave for a bit....too short a time for me.

I usually get two 30-40 minute sessions a day. I just don't have the time to do more, but if I did, I think I'd add sessions of the same length as opposed to just stretching out the sessions. I agree that 10 minutes at a time is pretty short.

The longest I've gone is 45 or 60 at a time..30 is about the norm for me too.

I think that may (or not) be true, but that does not mean that what you practice in between is of no value. On the contrary, I'd say it is at least of equal importance, if in a different way. And it is different.
