Okay everyone, if this does'nt work, I'm changing my user name to Mr super-Stupid! After 4- try's and a personal spoon fed tutorial from Bob muir, I hope this will finally work. As I said before, "stairway to heaven" is my home-made improvised version of the classic song. It was one of the very first songs that I learned when fooling around with my digital piano during my physical therapy. "Lake erie rainfall" is a very nice Jim brickman song that is very easy to play. Both these songs are played reading extremelly easy (one finger) sheet music. Even though it may sound a littel "fancier", listen very close as I am only expanding on the very simple basic notes and chords. Thanks everyone for your patience! And a very special thanks to Bob Muir for all his help on a christmas eve. Thanks Bob http://63.224.59.85/music/Stairway_to_Heaven.mp3 http://63.224.59.85/music/lake_eerie_rain.mp3

Geek, did you hit "save file" before you opened it? it seems to work for me that way.

The links work fine. The problem is they're not music files.
mr_super-hunky, what you did was "Save Project as" in Audacity and you uploaded the project file which doesn't include the music. What you need to do is export the music as an MP3 and upload the MP3 files. The reason the .aup files worked for you is because you have the music on your hard drive and the .aup files link to that location.

Thank you Bob for the advice. It seems that you not only have to upload your file on audacity and store it on savefile, but you also have to "convert" it to an mp3 via a program called "lame mp3".
This has been a very difficult task for me because I am not really computer savy, however, if you don't know how to do something, ask someone who does!!
I hope this will work now, can someone test it for me and let me know?...thanks in advance.
BTW, it this does work, for thoses of you who have not done this yet, 3-downloads needed.
1. audacity 2. savefile 3. Lame mp3

Can somebody walk me through how to listen to super-hunky's files? When I click on the links, I get a web site with another link, "download now" that I click on...and then nothing happens. Are they working yet?

Nope. Still not fixed. You can try out the file yourself before you upload it to see if it works. Just open it in Windows Media Player and see if it plays. Right now it's only a 1kb file that isn't an MP3 file even though the extension is .mp3
Did you open the project and then do File->Export as MP3 in Audacity?

Bob, can you help me? Here's what I did 1. I downloaded Lame mp3 and opened the zip file. 2. I opened up the audacity file and exported the file as an mp3 3. Then I had an mp3 file in "my documents" 4. Then I went into savefile.com and uploaded the mp3 file into that project 5. Thats it! What else should I do? .. I really hate being so stupid, it gets in the way of a lot of things

It's difficult via forum, but I'll try: 1. Open Audacity and then Edit->Preferences. 2. Click on the File Formats tab and see if LAME is installed properly. If it is, then select the bit rate you want. 96 is probably good for uploading. If it isn't, then you want to click on the "Find Library" button and point it to where you placed the "lame_enc.dll" file from the zip you downloaded. 3. When LAME is installed and you have the bit rate set, then open your project and see if it plays ok. Then select File->Export As MP3 from the menu. After saving the MP3 file, open Windows Explorer and double click on the file to see if it plays ok. 4. Upload the MP3 file. I hope you get it figured out because I'm looking forward to hearing your tunes! "I really hate being so stupid, it gets in the way of a lot of things"Well, you can't be "super-hunky" AND have brains now can you?

Go back up to the main post and click the new links. After 4-"revisions", it might actually work now!!

Well, whatever mental level super-hunky is at, I'm one lower, because I still can't figure out how to play his clips. I click on the link, it brings me to a page where I click on the "lake erie rainfall" link, then it brings me to a page where it says "download now," which I click on. Little green bars start showing up so I figure SOMETHING is happening. Then I get a screen that asks if I want to open it, which I do, so I click on it and....nothing happens. Do I need some kind of special player or program to play an mp3 file on my computer? Will windows media play it? If so, how do I find the clip to play it?

I don't think you're doing anything wrong Monica. The files won't play for me either. There must be something wrong with the links at savefile.com because it says that Stairway to Heaven is 2.11MB but when I download it, it's only 1kb.

There isn't anything simple about posting files on a public server. It can be very complicated. For now msh, if you email the songs to me, I'll put them on my server.

I just emailed the links to mr_super-hunky, so he should be editing the first post momentarily. Very nice improv of Stairway and Lake Erie was quite good as well! Good job hunkmeister!

Oh my gosh -
I am so impressed Mr. S.H. both songs are very nice indeed. I thought your version of Lake Erie was just very soulful and the improv of Stairway was excellent.
What was your source music (1-finger - NOT) for Erie?
What kind of piano did you use for the recording
I remain an extremely envious newbie

OK Mr Funky Hunky, cool try!
I have played this song (on guitar) live about 300 times as it is requested ove rand over again. I stay quite faithful to the Jimmy Page original, although I usually fool around in the lead sections and I dont bother with teh 12 string / 6 string switch.
May I make a suggestion? The song is based on an A minor pentatonic scale and for its impact it depends on building up towards a climax as the verses progress.
You play this well and I like the elaboration, but it would have more impact if you simplified it to begin with and then gradually built in both volume and ornamentation, ensuring that you keep that minor feel (steer clear of major chords).
Cool job though, dude!
Kind regards
Adrian
