Plane lands. People shuffle off. Get bag, drive home. Open door. Straight to piano. Start to play "I due fiumi."

Sense of strangeness: is piano always this loud? Fingers fumble on keys. Mistakes are made that normally wouldn't be made. Six days is a long time to go without playing. Too long.

But familiarity, too: Keys feel good under fingers. Music flows above, around, within. After a few minutes it is no longer too loud. It's just right.

It's good to be home. I've missed my piano. My son assures me that the piano has missed me.

I was away for almost 3 weeks with no piano, and barely managed to read some ABF posts (slow internet, small laptop screen, out of the daily routine, etc, etc.)

I am still quite jet lagged, i.e. the brain feels zombie-ish and feels like it belongs to someone else!

Have yet to sit down at the piano. Hmm... thanks for the "warning"!

Glad to hear you made it home safely. Even if I barely touch the piano on any given day it makes me feel much better.

Now that you've taken care of the piano, take care of the family.

Welcome back, Rosanna! I can't imagine being away for THREE WEEKS. And jet lag to boot. Hope you get back in the swing of things quickly. I'll be interested to hear how you think your absence affected your playing.

I was very surprised after a 5 days of absence from piano. It was... refreshing! I found myself playing pieces I was struggling with considerably better. I hate going away from piano for too long though - I never know where the border lies, between refreshing myself and forgetting how to play.

I'm sure you both missed your pianos, terribly, and feel more settled in now that you are back on the bench. It's been three days for me walking past and smelling my piano yet still not practicing. The guilt is building and my lessons resume next Tuesday, so I'm going down to practice, now, before procrastination strangles desire, again.

Thanks, Angelo, for channeling my piano's inner spirit for me. It's nice to know he hasn't been thinking "Gawd, I sure wish a real pianist had bought me instead of being stuck with all this ham-fisted Einaudi stuff!" all this time.

I was gone for 3 weeks overseas. No piano, barely any internet. Obviously no practice.

Came home, played Brahms and Rach for a while - I think my piano actually sounds really good a bit flat. It needs a tuning and some conditioning work but it is still there!

At least my DP didn't complain about needing a tuning! (It may complain about my playing, but then what's new! )

Rosanna - the only time some of us complain about your playing is when we don't hear it :p
