Can any kind soul out there help me in my search?
I am an adult beginner, 20 months experience, wide taste in music but currently emphasis is on classics. Trying to learn the full version of Fur Elise, Melody in F, etc., I can manage Gymnopedie No 1 by Satie. In other genres I am trying Farewell to Stromness, some of Enya's piano pieces and more.
Had an absolute disaster recently when in a festival competition playing two Associated Board (UK) Grade III pieces - simply froze on stage with hands shaking uncontrollably - could not finish. Ugh!!! Needless to say went away with the wooden spoon but even more determination to overcome. I simply cannot play in front of people. Trying EFT as a treatment.
Am trying to track down sheet music for Kamen's "Band of Brothers" as played by Simon Mulligan on his Sony Album "Piano". Cannot find it listed anywhere on the net.
Any ideas?

I can't help with the music, but do hang in there on the performance anxiety. It does get better, I promise!

What did you play in your recital?

And welcome!

Thanks for your encouragement. Everyone tells me that it does get better! I'm working on it.

The two pieces I played were:

"Song" No.1 from Miniatures, Opus 172 by Gurlitt

and

"Passepied" sixth movement from suite No 2 in D by Dieupart.

In the latter I chose the officially printed option to play the triplets in the right hand as a crochet and a quaver instead of three equal quavers, this option being allegedly in the original French style. I was slightly miffed that the adjudicator referred to my "jazzing it up", clearly indicating that he had not read the footnote to the piece! My teacher was annoyed too.

It still does not alter the fact that my playing was terrible.

Thank you for your kindness - and your welcome. ;\)

Obviously, Samickowner doesn't know you very well, Cindy. Kindness? From the AB dominatrix? :2hearts:

To Piana Justice

Well, I thought I had tried both of them but with no success.
I will try again.
Now, I wonder if the reason I failed miserably with my performance is that I am thick???

Thanks, though, for your help.

To Jerry Luke

Now what has Cindysphinx done to you?

Seems nice enough to me.

Just tried your two recommends again.
SheetMusicPlus.com keeps returning the answer 0 finds.
MusicNotes.com has a book but it is a full orchestral score and at $40 I don't think so.
However, again, thanks for the suggestion.

I snooped around trying to find the "Band of Brothers" music and couldn't find it, either.

You can buy a full orchestral suite, or one for concert band... but no solo instrumental for any instrument, including piano.

Kamen died suddenly a few years ago, which may explain why the music isn't more readily available. Things may be taking forever to go through the various copyright and estate clearing processes--although this is just a guess on my part.

It is great music!

Heh, heh.

I have bent Jerry (and the other AB Dudes) to my will whenever the mood strikes. You know, the usual whip and handcuffs and the like.

They protest, but deep down they love it!

Jerry was just teasing. \:D \:D

Found a copy of FUR ELISE in The Library of Piano Favorites from AMSCO. It covers 4 pages.

Have attempted to play my guitar before The Denver Classical Guitar Society. The second time I found myself staring at my shaking right hand. The first time was no better. Can't get worse, so I have to improve!

Recording my piano and guitar playing seems to be helping my stage fright. I also subject any visitors to my "talent". Have yet to try playing before a group again.

4 pages for "Fur Elise" sounds about right - depends on print spacing etc. My version is an edition transcribed from Beethoven's original 2 page draft and L. Nohl's first impression dated 1867. It covers 3 pages.
In the UK "Fur Elise" is often arranged in simplified form for early stage pupils and, as such, rarely goes beyond bar 22. The full version runs to 104 bars but, with the two sections that are repeated the total number of bars is 126 - quite a long piece for a beginner! I have a CD recording by Dame Moura Lympany who takes 3 mins 18 seconds to play the 126 bars mentioned. I am afraid it takes me at least 6/7 minutes to get through it.
The really difficult bit is from bar 22 to 34, mainly because of the speed. I also find bars 59 to 74 hard due to the repetitive notes in the left hand and some difficult chords in the right. And finally it takes me a little work to manage the arpeggios in bars 77 to 79 followed by the downward chromatic scale through to bar 81 simply due to the fingering.
Mind you, all this maybe rubbish to you especially if you are of some years experience. I hope I have not bored you.
I have a good buddy who is a keen guitarist and who has loads of recording equipment. He says that he will gladly give me some backing and record what we do, so that might be a good way forward.
I don't know yet whether the EFT treatment is working as I have not had an opportunity to try it out in a real performance situation. Time will tell.

well, you could try this link; http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/store/smp_home.html

i hope it helps this time. and at musicnotes.com, you can sample the music, so that you can determine whether or not you like it b/f you purchase it, so you won't therefore waste your money. but the only problem is is that you have to have a credit card, which i don't have. plus, they don't have customer reviews there.

the link is on the right-hand side on this forum, under the WHAT'S HOT box, under the 'Other Resources' heading.
