Wow, what a bunch of cool pieces to listen to. You folks have outdone yourselves once again. I shall begin my comments at the beginning. Where else should one begin, pray tell?

01 dannyluxMel-Etude de Valse[/b]

You have once again blessed us with a less well known composer. This is a wonderfully fun sounding piece, and you played it extremely well. Fabulous job, as always.

02 LisztAddict - Lievestraum No.3[/b]

This is one I remember struggling to play as a youngster. I certainly did think it was terribly difficult. You and I are not in the same league, though. \:D Your playing is flawless, expressive, and worthy of a professional performance. This is what I have come to expect from your submissions, and you have not disappointed this time. Wonderful job.

03 Lisztener - Night and Day[/b]

I love this song. Great intro. I really like the way it started out as Moonlight Sonata. Your playing is, as always, expressive and beautiful. DYNAMICS with a capital D - WOW, am I impressed. This is a definite keeper that I will listen to many times over. Thank you.

04 Triryche Rich - Departure[/b]

That is a piece I haven't heard before. I must say that it is very pleasant and relaxing. I really enjoyed listening to play it even if it is a bit too short. I suppose you followed the old show biz axiom "always leave 'em wanting more."

05 Orez Eno - Dark Eyes[/b]

Here is yet another unfamiliar piece. It does have that dark, brooding quality that is usually associated with things Russian. I really enjoyed listening to this song. It sounds like you are progressing very well for the short time you have been playing.

06 Peyton - Nocturne in C Minor[/b]

Yes, this does sound familiar. You played it quite well even if your piano sounds "like hell." The new hammers should make a big difference in that sound. I can't wait to hear it after the work is done. I always enjoy your playing. I know this piece is not easy.

07 Mr Super-Hunky - Comptine dun autre ete lapres[/b]

Comptine done ate the lampreys? :p We've heard this from several members from recitals and piano bars, and I must say that yours is the most unique version. I don't think you've butchered the piece. I think you took an already lovely piece and made it even more interesting.

08 Paul Cast - Sonatina in G - Moderato Romanze[/b]

This is a beautiful piece. You played it nicely. I always enjoy Beethoven. I know some find it mathematical and boring, but I have always loved his work.

09 Ted Stanion - Notturno, 54/4[/b]

Yes, Ted, this sounds more like a nocturne should now. I am no expert when it comes to Grieg. In fact, I always managed to avoid most of his works back in my days of formal lessons, but this one is quite lovely. I think you've got it just about perfect.

10 Kawaigirl1 - Late Night[/b]

This is another piece I am unfamiliar with. It is a very beautiful and relaxing piece. It is aptly named. I can see why you found it so challenging to play properly. I also see that you were very much up to that challenge. To my ears it could not have been played better. Your dynamics are fabulous. You played it with expression and emotion. Simply wonderful.

More to come . . .

11 JeanieA - Hallelujah[/b]

Excellent job. This is a beautiful song, and I enjoyed listening to you play it.

12 polostrings - Mr. Ng's News[/b]

What a beautiful composition. I cannot help tearing up a bit as I listen to your piece. It sounds mournful yet thankful for the years they had together. You captured the emotions that accompany the loss of a loved one perfectly. A very poignant piece of music. Thanks.

13 Schubertian - Haydn Sonata 59 Movement 2[/b]

Haydn has always been a bit of a mystery to me. I have to say this piece is dramatically beautiful, though. Your playing is excellent, and I don't think your piano sounds that[/b] out of tune.

14 TrueBeginner - Couleur Tendresse[/b]

De Senneville is new to me. This is a beautiful piece, and your playing sounds far better than it should at three months experience. This piece doesn't sound that easy to play. Well done!

15 Angelojf - Over The Rainbow[/b]

One of my favorites, I have never heard Over the Rainbow played quite this way. My tech played it for me the last time my piano was tuned. He can sure make my piano sound better than I can. I still haven't mastered this piece, but I will keep trying. I enjoyed your somewhat unusual take on it. Very nice.

16 Serge88 - Yesterday[/b]

Thoroughly enjoyable rendition! I found myself wanting to sing along. Alas, it's not in my key; much too high. \:D Great job on another of my favorite songs.

17 rustyfingers - Star Wars Main Title Theme[/b]

Williams wrote such dramatic pieces. I think there are pieces that just don't lend themselves to solo piano. Of course, that is just my lowly opinion. You certainly played it as well as anyone could without an orchestra behind him. Nice words, too.

18 piano_deb - Fur Elise[/b]

Hey, for four months this is pretty darn good. I know many people get bored with this piece, but I have always enjoyed it. I think I got hooked on the Vince Guaraldi version as a kid. I remember I couldn't believe my luck when my teacher asked me to learn it (easy version) when I was 6 or 7 years old. I still love the piece today. Keep up the good work, D.

19 Undone Jim - Plaisir DAmour[/b]

Jim, that is a thoroughly enjoyable listen. You chose a beautiful piece, and you played it well. Good job.

20 Copper - Part of Your World[/b]

I don't remember this one. Which Disney picture is it from? Never mind, my wife googled it. The Little Mermaid. I never saw that one, so I guess that's why I don't remember it. \:D Nice job. Menken has written oodles of great songs over the years. Now you have to take a keyboard and a Zoom up when you fly and record something at five thousand feet for the next recital. We'll understand if it's a very short piece. \:D

I may have jumped the gun since it's still the 14th. Sorry, Monica. I couldn't wait, though. I shall have to wait on the rest, though. An early start awaits me tomorrow.

Still more to come . . .

That's impressive you got so many comments done so quickly, Dennis! I have to confess that--in a shameless abuse of admin privileges on mahlzeit's program--I cheated and started listening to the recordings ahead of time. But I'll have to wait until tomorrow to post my comments as I need (desperately, my daughter would say) my beauty sleep. \:D

So everything is posted and zip files uploaded etc... hope I didn't make any mistakes with anybody's entry. Shoot me a PM if I did and I'll fix it in the morning.

It's my third recital to participate in, but my first to comment on! Thanks for providing the template and thanks to all for submitting to the recital. 3.5 hours to listen to!

01. dannylux/Mel - Etude de Valse, Op.83[/b]
Amazing! Great start to the recital. I really enjoyed it. There's so much going on in this piece, no wonder you fell for it when you first saw it. And you played it beautifully.

02. LisztAddict - Liebestraum No 3[/b]
Dreamy piece, just like the name says, and you more than did it justice. Excellent work. Gives me so much to aspire to!

03. Lisztener - Night and Day[/b]
Interesting twist at the beginning and well played throughout. Great job!

04. Triryche (Rich) - Departure[/b]
Melancholy and interesting piece. Nice dynamics throughout. Well done.

05. Orez Eno - Dark Eyes[/b]
One of the most beloved Russian songs. Lots of fun! Sing along:
Очи черные, очи страстные
Очи жгучие и прекрасные
Как люблю я вас, как боюсь я вас
Знать, увидел вас я в недобрый час

06. Peyton - Nocturne in C# Minor Post.[/b]
I love how you can just listen to Chopin pieces again and again and get something different out of them constantly. How some can kind of stay with you in the background and then suddenly leap out and seize your attention and dominate your imagination for days on end. Well played. Good luck with the new hammers. I so look forward to the time when I can play Chopin. Thanks for the inspiration.

07. Mr Super-Hunky - Comptine d'un autre ete l'apres[/b]
Nice piece. Good improvization. Don't know how you do that!

08. Paul Cast - Sonatina in G - Moderato + Romanze[/b]
I played the first movement two recitals ago and the second movement in the last recital, so I was eager to hear your interpretation. Good job! Keep playing it and keep it in your repertoire. I've unfortunately forgotten the first movement and haven't done much to keep the 2nd movement active.

09. Ted Stanion - Notturno, Op. 54, No. 4[/b]
Relaxing piece, it's late, so I'm listening to it in just the right spirit of a nocturne. Good work.

10. Kawaigirl1 - Late Night[/b]
Well played. Nice piece. Your piano sounds nice too and well recorded.

11. JeanieA - Hallelujah[/b]
I suppose I'm not supposed to think of American Idol right off the bat, but that's the only place I've heard this before. Well done. Another one tonight to sing along with.

12. polostrings - Mr. Ng's news[/b]
Playing your own composition, that's interesting. Good job.

13. The Schubertian - Haydn Sonata #59, Mov't 2[/b]
This is one of my very favorite sonatas. I love all the movements. I can't wait to be able to play this some day. Beautiful work! And excellent piano even if it needs tuning!

14. TrueBeginner - Couleur Tendresse ( Color of Tenderness ? )[/b]
Delicate piece, lovely. Nicely played.

15. Angelojf - Over the Rainbow[/b]
Well done. Interesting take on the piece.

16. Serge88 - Yesterday[/b]
Nice rendition. I am so dependent on sheet music and/or my memory of it. I admire those who just sit down and play by ear.

17. rustyfingers - Star Wars (Main Title)[/b]
I thought this sounded nice. It is hard to do this piece on a piano alone, but you did a good job.

18. piano_deb (Deborah) - Für Elise (easy piano)[/b]
Nice work, keep it up and you'll be ready for the full version before you know it. I love the meaty middle of this piece, so it's hard for me to get away from the original.

19. Undone (Jim) - Plaisir D'Amour[/b]
Nicely done.

20. Copper - Part of Your World[/b]
Good job!

21. epf - Rondino (Little Rondo)[/b]
Nice piece, well played.

22. Bluekeys - Le Onde[/b]
Interesting and beautiful. Well done.

One-third through. It's late and my comments are getting briefer and briefer. Great job everyone! Looking forward to hearing the rest...

Just wanted to say thanks to Xcal for the Schumann Arabesque - lovely played and professional to my ears \:\)

I'm going backwards! (I figure the ones at the end are waiting for love.)
53. Yamaha G3 & P-80/ Mike White - Spanish Dance No. 2[/b]
Don't know this piece but I liked it.
54. Hisalone (Joel) - Maple Leaf Rag[/b]
Well done! I liked your tempo too.
55. Ovaltine - Claire de Lune[/b]
I love this piece. You played it beautifully.
56. Mistaya (Caroline) - Sonata in C Major[/b]
Bright and crisp. Nicely done.
57. ddh - Daniel - Greensleeves[/b]
Lovely. I'm becoming a real Nevue fan.
58. Mark... - Amazing Grace[/b]
This is a keeper. Even in years to come you can still play this and it will sound great.
59. AdagioM (Michele) - Granados Medley[/b]
I don't know this one but it sounds beautiful.
60. jotur - Cathy Turner - It Had To Be You
[/b]
Wow. First take and still reading the end. It swings just fine.
61. Rockpeter - Album for the Young Op.68, No. 1[/b]
Very bright and sweet.
62. billyshears66 - Knocking On Heaven's Door[/b]
Well done! From ear too. Who doesn't love Guns 'n Roses.
63. cscl - Andantino or Ivan Sings[/b]
Very pretty.

Thought I would start from the back so those in the back will have comments early as well. I consider this group the clutch people who turned it in at the last second.

59. AdagioM (Michele) - Granados Medley[/b] (to do) - very nice, I liked the second part the best.

60. jotur - Cathy Turner - It Had To Be You[/b] (to do)- enjoyable, l liked it very much.

61. Rockpeter - Album for the Young Op.68, No. 1[/b] (to do)- Love the bright sound.

62. billyshears66 - Knocking On Heaven's Door[/b] (to do)- Definitely can hear the guitar in your style, it's great of you to participate with such little experience.

63. cscl - Andantino or Ivan Sings[/b] (to do)- Not bad for 20 mins with the Zoom. I missed last recital for that reason, not enough time with the zoom. Also I like how it's pure , like a real recital, you have to move through the tough parts.

Unfortunately I have to wait till I'm back home after work before I can start listening - but thanks to all involved in organisation, preparation, programming etc.! And to those who submitted, of course \:\)
Can hardly wait to hear your entries.

I'm downloading the zip file now and know that I will have a wonderful listening experience. Along with the template for making comments will there be an index of name, title, composer, instrument used, and recording method. I made one for Recital 8 and used it as a printout while listening. It is on page 4 of Recital 8's General Discussion thread.

I'll try going backwards since I rarely ever get through everyone's performance.

Here is my unknowlegable but heartfelt opinion... \:\)

#63 What a beautiful melody. You're really getting a nice feel for it. Keep going, it's going to be a winner when you have it down.

62. That's a great jam piece. Easy chords for the left hand and a nice simple but fun melody. Should be good for you to develop some piano chops with. Keep working it!

61. Sweet. Nicely played.

60. Nice. You're right that you don't quite have that "swing" just yet but it's starting to happen and you will no doubt be rockin it when you have it down. Great job!

59. Great. Real nice left hand touch.

58. Nice job. That's a great piece to keep coming back to. A good one to try improvising to as well.

57. I always love this piece. Dan, the volume seemed real low on my end so i couldn't hear the tone as well as I wanted but I liked your playing.

56. Hey, that was great! You really have a feel for this light and lively work. Those slips didn't take from your playing at all. I listened twice!

55. Man, good for you. I think that's such a tough piece to play well and you really nailed it (especially the first part). Nice recording quality as well.

All for now but I'll keep listening.

01. dannylux/Mel - Etude de Valse, Op.83[/b] Very nicely played; good dymanics, good tempo control.

02. LisztAddict - Liebestraum No 3[/b] Arpeggios are very well done. Nothing seemed hurried or rushed, good pacing and phrasing.

03. Lisztener - Night and Day[/b] Nice control of the transitions, good dynamics, well done!

04. Triryche (Rich) - Departure[/b] Very nicely done.

05. Orez Eno - Dark Eyes[/b] Well played, nice touch.

06. Peyton - Nocturne in C# Minor Post.[/b] Good control and phrasing. Nicely done!

07. Mr Super-Hunky - Comptine d'un autre ete l'apres[/b] Very nicely played -- a moody piece that shows you have good control of the piano.

08. Paul Cast - Sonatina in G - Moderato + Romanze[/b] Both sections are nicely played, good tempo and nice phrasing.

09. Ted Stanion - Notturno, Op. 54, No. 4[/b] Very well done, the trills break so cleanly!

10. Kawaigirl1 - Late Night[/b] Very pretty piece that was well played. Never a sense that anything was rushed.

More to follow...

1. Dannylux.[/b] This piece is, I think, the most technically demanding piece you’ve submitted to the recitals so far. I took a peek at the sheet music and was floored. I am very impressed by your being able to play so well so FAST!

2. LisztAddict:[/b] Okay, so your definition of “not terribly difficult” is in a completely different universe than mine! Beautiful performance. I especially liked your dynamics, particularly the forte section about halfway through.

3. Lisztener:[/b] I had never heard this arrangement of Night and Day, but I loved it! (Though I gotta admit that during the first few seconds I wondered if you had gotten your mp3 files mixed up. \:D )

4. Triryche:[/b] This is such a bittersweet, poignant piece. You do a great job of putting emotion in it. And I’ve seen the sheet music and know that those big chords in the second half are hard to reach!

5. Orez Eno:[/b] I am a sucker for Russian folk songs, and if it weren’t before noon while I’m writing this I’d have a shot of vodka in its honor. \:D Congratulations on a wonderful first-time recital submission!

6. Peyton:[/b] Your piano sounded a little boomy and echo-ey but I wouldn’t call it hellish. \:D And any deficiencies in the hammers were soon overlooked by the grace of your playing. I sure wish I could play trills as smoothly and cleanly as you did for as long as you did.

7. Super-hunky:[/b] “Comptine...” is one of my favorite piano compositions, and I think your variation here is your best yet... even better than your “Nefeli,” which is saying a lot! Absolutely beautiful.

8. Paul Cast:[/b] You do a wonderful job of maintaining the tempo and playing with precision throughout the entire duration of the piece. Congratulations on your first AB recital!

9. Ted Stanion:[/b] I get surprised, too, when I listen to old recordings of mine of pieces that I still play now and see how much they’ve changed. (Except I get FASTER, not slower! \:D ) I missed your piano bar version, but this one is very nice, and I don’t think it is too slow at all. You’re a master of the trills, too!

10. Kawaigirl:[/b] I wasn’t familiar with this Robin Spielberg piece. You play it (as always) flawlessly with a delicate air. I loved the part where you’re playing all the deep bass notes with the ultra high melody in the right hand. This would be a great piece to use to audition pianos, just because it uses such a tremendous range of the keyboard.

11. JeannieA:[/b] I loved this song even before Shrek made it famous. Such a pretty, sad melody, and what lyrics, especially Wainwright’s extra verse: “All I ever learned from love was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you.”

12. Polostrings:[/b] What a deeply moving story behind your composition! As I listened to the piece, I could hear the steadfastness of Mr. Ng’s love for his wife behind the matter of fact way he delivered the news to you. It’s always a treat to hear an original composition in the recitals. \:\)

13. Schubertian:[/b] Your recital pieces are always so impressive... I’m no expert on classical works, but I could not detect the slightest mistake. Your phrasing was so light and delicate throughout. I loved the transition to the darker tone (was it a change to a minor key?) about halfway through. p.s. Even out of tune, your Estonia sounds terrific. \:\)

14. True Beginner:[/b] I love Paul de Senneville’s compositions. I even bought a sheet music collection of his because I want to learn “A comme amour” one day, and your playing of this piece has got me curious to see if this one is in the book I have. Very pretty! You’ve only been playing for 3 months?!? I would’ve believed 3 years.

15. Angelojf:[/b] Tell your wife I think she is a harsh grader! I loved your arrangement of “Over the Rainbow.” It sounded like it could fit in at any swanky hotel lobby anywhere.

16. Serge88:[/b] And you would fit in playing right after Angelojf in that swanky hotel. Very impressive arrangement of “Yesterday,” which is possibly my all-time favorite Beatles song.

17. rustyfingers:[/b] Okay, maybe a swanky hotel wouldn’t play the “Star Wars” theme, but your piece was a lot of fun to listen to! I liked the arrangement, especially the part where you have all these big descending bass notes. (Were you playing octaves at that part?)

18. piano_deb:[/b] I kept remembering your story about playing for your mom as I listened to this, and it got me all emotional again. Does your mom have a computer or mp3 player? You should send her this recording.

19. Undone:[/b] I’m not familiar with either this piece or the composer... is this a classical work? It was quite pretty... I have to say that I like the pieces I’ve heard from the Alfred’s series a lot. You’re doing great for 4 months! And congratulations on your first AB recital medal!

20. Copper:[/b] Great job of fleshing out the melody from the fake book! I’m always impressed when people can do that. Did you have to work long to arrive at this arrangement or are you able to play from the fake book pretty much on the fly?

21. epf:[/b] Okay, once again I'm out of my element trying to comment on a classical piece. To my ears, it sounded great. \:\)

22. bluekeys:[/b] Yea! Einaudi! I am always glad to hear an Einaudi piece in the recitals, so much so that I will forgive you for producing a wonderful recording of “Le Onde,” which is a piece that has escaped my Red Dot grasp now for many years. You really do a nice job of bringing out the melody on those alternate notes, and trust me, I know how hard it is to do that on this piece!

I just want to say that everyone worked very hard and it showed in the final recording. I have enjoyed listening to all of them, no exceptions. I have discovered some different composers and styles that I like through this recital. I really love to hear who I would consider my peers performing in this kind of manner. Many different skill levels and genres were represented making for a truly enjoyable experience.

I would love to comment individually, but while I was listening, something in my basement needed to be repaired and I spent much of the time fixing it while I listened. Also, I figure it would take me a good three hours or so to get back through the recordings, and that is time I could be practicing. You understand, right? \:D

Anyway, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those people involved in putting in all the extra legwork for these recitals to be a success. I had alot of fun putting my piece together and being here beforehand building up the suspense for what really delivered. I am truly not disappointed. I believe you have a recital participant for life here.

Thanks again to all who submitted and all who took part in the production. God bless you all.

Joel

At first I'd like to thanks all of you. All who participated and submitted so many great pieces. And especially Monica, mahlzeit, and others who made all this possible and so well coordinated. The organisation of ABF recital is at world-class level!

What I really like about these recitals is the extreme range of different genres and styles. Vast amount of pieces I have never heard before, and I really enjoyed listening to all of them. I got interested with some, and will certainly check out new composers \:\)

I'm not really good at pointing good and bad sides of performances, so mostly I will just express my first opinion and impression - but I listened to every one of submitted pieces and every single one I really enjoyed.

Thanks!

And here it goes - perhaps my longest post ever \:D

01. dannylux/Mel - Etude de Valse, Op.83[/b]

After listening to your piece as the very first one I wonderd if I am really listening to Adult Beginners[/b] Recital \:D Fantastic phrasing and control of the piano, especially at that speed!

02. LisztAddict - Liebestraum No 3[/b] Well... LisztAddict seems very Addicted to Liszt - I can't imagine such a performance from person NOT addicted \:\)

03. Lisztener - Night and Day[/b] I really thought you mixed up the MP3's \:D Very enjoyable!

04. Triryche (Rich) - Departure[/b] I think I heard it somewhere - very nice rendition!

05. Orez Eno - Dark Eyes[/b] The tune has an edge to it - it just sticks to my head now! You put a lot of Russian soul to it, I think. It just seems right.

06. Peyton - Nocturne in C# Minor Post.[/b] If it wasn't for the poor recording quality... the performance is astonishing. Your trills and scale runs are so much better than mine! (I played the same piece as yours) I wish I could hear it with better quality \:\)

07. Mr Super-Hunky - Comptine d'un autre ete l'apres[/b] Yann Tiersen is one of my favourite modern composers. His pieces are full of French soul and atmosphere - I see all those Paris alleys while listening. Your improvisation was lovely - nothing of the beauty was left out, but you have added a lot of great accents! You have great control over tempo, which I really liked! \:\)

08. Paul Cast - Sonatina in G - Moderato + Romanze[/b] I have never heard this before somehow, but it was very nice \:\)

09. Ted Stanion - Notturno, Op. 54, No. 4[/b] I remember you were working on it for some time. Well done, really!

10. Kawaigirl1 - Late Night[/b] Very emotional, very moving. I especially like the bell-like character of higher tones!

(to be continued)

Best wishes !
Mateusz

11. JeanieA - Hallelujah[/b] I am a fan of Leonard Cohen music. I have known the piece years before Shrek was even in production, but have never managed to play it (I didn't even try yet). It was a great pleasure listening to it. I think I will play along the violin line \:D

12. polostrings - Mr. Ng's news[/b] I was moved to the depths of my heart...

13. The Schubertian - Haydn Sonata #59, Mov't 2[/b] I'm not really a fan of Haydn, but I think you did well! It must've been difficult to learn such a long piece. At least it would be for me, as I'm a terrible sightreader \:\)

14. TrueBeginner - Couleur Tendresse ( Color of Tenderness ? )[/b] I don't know what's the cause of noise and hiss in the recording, but the perfornace is very nice \:\)

15. Angelojf - Over the Rainbow[/b] I really enjoy these recitals for non-classical. Another piece I haven't heard of and really liked!

16. Serge88 - Yesterday[/b] Whoa! A classic! And how played! Well done!

17. rustyfingers - Star Wars (Main Title)[/b] A very fun piece indeed! The quality of a recording lacks somehow (which strange, as it's Zoom!), but it's good even though!

18. piano_deb (Deborah) - Für Elise (easy piano)[/b] I read your thread of course, and I'm full of admiration for your courage to record it and post it to give us the pleasure of listening \:\) It was very nice to listen to Deborah! I am sure you will play the very-full version one day real soon! \:\)

19. Undone (Jim) - Plaisir D'Amour[/b] 4 months? Wow! Well-done!

20. Copper - Part of Your World[/b] Don't be *just* happy - it was very nice \:\)

21. epf - Rondino (Little Rondo)[/b] A lot more than one note indeed \:D

22. Bluekeys - Le Onde[/b] La Onde is a very beautiful piece and I think you did great to pull all these emotional thingies in it \:\)

23. TX-Dennis (Dennis Turner) - The Nearness of You[/b] Skipping lunch was well worth it \:D You came up with a great piece being hungry \:D

24. rocky - Serenade[/b] Simplier doesn't mean worse - it's very emotional in your hands. I listened to it few times in a row smiling. Thanks \:\)

25. Kawai, HI - Theme from Fantaisie Impromptu Op. 66[/b] You will be heading for a full-version one day, I hear it!

26. Forum ID: Riddler; Real name: Ed - A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing[/b] I have a great admiration for those who can play by ear and put some jazz into the music - it's the ability I lack the most. Very well done! indeed, interesing piece it is.

27. LaValse - Etude Op 2[/b] I haven't read the description before hearing the piece, but recognized it from the veyr first second. Somehow it's one of my favourite Scriabin pieces. I listened to many, and I think yours is really good \:\) It has the verve it should have, that teen soul.

28. greywullf - Nocturne in A minor Op. 10 No. 1[/b] The piece of Piano Gods like it should have!

29. JohnFrank - The Sound of Music[/b] I was waiting for your performance and it was worth it John!

30. Euphonatrix - March (from "Music for Children", op. 65, no. 10)[/b] Oh that crazy Prokofiev, I like that buddy!

31. Eighty8 - My Foolish Heart[/b] Jazzy, gooooood!

32. Pevawi - The Rose[/b] The title "The Rose" fits well - and your fingers-doing-something-by-themselves are gifted \:\)

33. DragonPianoPlayer - Prelude No 8 in C# Minor[/b] Your chords are well articulated and even - it build up to the piece. A lot of power is in it, I like it.

34. mlr1899 - Fugue in C minor[/b] Wow! Fugues are something I wish I could play, but two hands leading two or more melodies are a hellgate for me. Very steady and controlled - and I just listened to Richter's, so even more congratulations from me!

35. xcal - Arabesque op. 18[/b] Seems not easy, but well done - and indeed fun to play I believe!

36. Mateusz "Mati" Papiernik - Nocturne in C# minor Op. posth. (Lento con gran espressione)[/b] I won't say I word - guess why \:D

37. Rosanna - Shores of Tomorrow (translated from Chinese)[/b] I know it and I love it. Chinese music is very beautiful and moving. I can easily imagin Erhu playing the melody along. Very moving. It would be a great loss if you skipped the recital Rosanna!

38. mahlzeit - Oh, My Love[/b] It's really John Lennon? I didn't know! I think it will be one of my favs from the recital \:\)

39. Seaside_Lee - Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered[/b] You have great control over dynamics. Very nice!

40. Rob Masters - Apologise (piano cover)[/b] Once again a piece I naver heard of and I'm happy to hear it now. A very beautiful melody well brought up with your fingers.

41. Euan Morrison - Keyboard Concerto no.5 (2nd mov.)[/b] I always considered Bach challenging. And I think never heard Bach with pedal! \:\) In a drama I watched a girl played a piece in a practice room, after the whole day of competition auditions. The jury member after hearing it for a second from the building shouted "Whose Bartok is that!?" and with open mouth run to check this out, and never found out. Something similar happened to me - I listened to the piece (I have a full playlist of recital pieces) and thought "Whose Bach is that!" \:\) Very interesting Euan, I like it!

42. Monica K. - Everyday[/b] Monica - as always a top performance, and a top recording quality. Not a single bad thing I could think or say! Mesmerizing.

43. b528nf7 - Blackbird[/b] The hiss is a bit disturbing, a very nice performance nevertheless! You seem very comfortable at piano - I like the light movement of your hands. And I have a great respect for having it recorded with video camera - I just can't play well with that monster turned on! \:D

44. Babs - Deep Heaven[/b] David Nevue is often mentioned on this boards, but I have never heard his pieces. After listening to yours I'm getting really intrigued and interested in his music! The piece is indeed very soothing and smooth. only peaceful thoughts are in my head while listening \:\)

45. toucanjunky - Prelude No.4[/b] Great light touch and thundering culmination chord, with well-chosen tempo. Well done!

46. piano_tony - Scarborogh Fair[/b] Is this a well known tune? I could swear I know it, but can't tell where from. Even if you say it's not yet smooth, I think it's very nice \:\)

47. GregF - Alexander's Ragtime Band[/b] Raggy as it should!

48. Manndrew - The Long and Winding Road[/b] Goes to my favourites as well. I think I like piano McCartney more than live McCartney \:D

49. Frotz / Brian - Nocturne in E Minor[/b] Even though the recording is not of very best quality, your piano has a wonderful sound for this Nocturne. It's one of my favourite Nocturnes of all - I hope I will manage to play it some day too \:\) I really liked your interpretation.

50. I'm playing it better at home now - Sandy - Waltz Ab Opus 69 No. 1[/b] You play it better at home now, and you played it really good for a recital Sandy \:D

51. YD - Chopin Valse Op.64 No.2[/b] Very intriguing interpretation! It's somehow curvy and furious as a mountain river - I like it! It's a very demanding piece and you tackled it well.

52. Keith W - The Entertainer[/b] The Entertainer after 8 months? You are my hero Keith \:\) Albeit I prefer faster rendition, I know I couldn't play it half your tempo yet perhaps! Fun to listen to, the funny noises are fun to \:D

53. Yamaha G3 & P-80/ Mike White - Spanish Dance No. 2[/b] A very nice sound of your piano, and a nice performance \:\) I think I understand what you are saying with being sick of a piece. I'm just unable to play the Nocturne more now - I have to take some rest, after playing it like crazy \:\)

54. Hisalone (Joel) - Maple Leaf Rag[/b] Very, very good, I like your tempo much better than furious faster performances \:\) So much of this piece is revealed when played that way.

55. Ovaltine - Claire de Lune[/b] It's a very difficult piece to play with emotion. I'm scared of playing it yet - but I hope I will manage one day. You did a great job with it Ovaltine.

56. Mistaya (Caroline) - Sonata in C Major[/b] I wish I could hear the harpsichord version \:\) I don't know Scarlatti pieces well, and I think you made a great introduction to his composing \:\) Nice touch \:\)

57. ddh - Daniel - Greensleeves[/b] The melody is one of my personal favourites ever. Do you know Loreena McKennit version? I can't really imagine why someone treat is as an Xmas song! Very gently played!

58. Mark... - Amazing Grace[/b] Aww! I know it! Very nicely played!

59. AdagioM (Michele) - Granados Medley[/b] Granados seems so smooth - I must get my hands on his music more. Thanks!

60. jotur - Cathy Turner - It Had To Be You[/b] Nicely done!

61. Rockpeter - Album for the Young Op.68, No. 1[/b] A very fresh Schumann!

62. billyshears66 - Knocking On Heaven's Door[/b] A classic. Fantastic take! it's delicate and for me it's the way i should be played.

63. cscl - Andantino or Ivan Sings[/b] A good start on this piece, I enjoyed listening to it!

Feeew - I wonder how managed to post all of this!

Best regards,
Mateusz

23. TX-Dennis (Dennis Turner) - The Nearness of You[/b]. This is another perfect swanky hotel piano bar piece. You sound completely relaxed in your playing... very impressive that you were also improvising.

24. rocky - Serenade[/b]. I’m always happy to see new age in the recital, and you do a wonderful job on this Brickman piece. It doesn’t sound like an “easy” arrangement to me at all, as it sounds like Coates kept in a lot of those tricky rhythms that Brickman loves to torture us with.

25. Kawai, HI - Theme from Fantaisie Impromptu Op. 66[/b] Beautiful! And great job on those ornamentations. You’ve only been back at the bench for two months? Incredible!

26. Forum ID: Riddler; Real name: Ed - A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing[/b] After reading your description, I was more curious to hear your recording than any other on the recital, and I certainly wasn’t expecting it to be as melodic as it turned out to be. \:D In the end I think your description was right on target: (a little) strange, but beautiful.

27. LaValse - Etude Op 2[/b]. Okay, so you played this in one take. I hate your guts. (Just kidding!) But I *am* tremendously impressed that you could pull off a piece this tricky so well on a single session with the Red Dot.

28. greywullf - Nocturne in A minor Op. 10 No. 1[/b] Welcome to the forum! And congratulations on your first AB recital medal. After listening to your beautiful playing I hope you will de-lurk more often to post recordings. \:\)

29. JohnFrank - The Sound of Music[/b]. JohnFrank, you have *no* idea how much willpower it took for me not to substitute an Einaudi piece for your recording. \:D But I’m glad I didn’t, because “Sound of Music” was one of my favorite movies as a child, and this is one of the best songs from it. Very nice!

30. Euphonatrix - March (from "Music for Children", op. 65, no. 10)[/b] I had never heard this piece before, but it’s really cute! As I listened to you I kept envisioning some increasingly-frustrated teacher trying to herd 30 kindergartners into straight lines. \:D It sounded like a heck of a lot of fun to play.

31. Eighty8 - My Foolish Heart[/b] My hubby is out of town, but I wish he were home so I could dance with him to your song. \:\) Very smooth and touching.

32. Pevawi - The Rose[/b]. Huh... I know this as the Bette Midler song (and called “The rose”) and don’t believe it was intended as a hymn. But it’s a beautiful song in any case, and I like this arrangement. Nice control of dynamics.

Wow. Here goes, at whatever pace I can manage (might take weeks!).

01. dannylux/Mel - Etude de Valse, Op.83[/b]: Incredible. Really beautiful, and fun.

02. LisztAddict - Liebestraum No 3[/b] Quite lovely.

Quick aside: I'm awestruck by the quality of playing here, often. I feel unworthy to comment, sometimes

03. Lisztener - Night and Day[/b] Very sweet & expressive.

04. Triryche (Rich) - Departure[/b] That's a great little piece. You build it up nicely.

05. Orez Eno - Dark Eyes[/b]: Well done. Congrats on your first submission.

06. Peyton - Nocturne in C# Minor Post.[/b]: Great piece, good luck with the new hammers. Well played.

07. Mr Super-Hunky - Comptine d'un autre ete l'apres[/b]: I don't know the piece, so don't know the extent of improv. But I'm constantly amazed that, after 4 years, you "noodle" at that level. I'd love to get there!

08. Paul Cast - Sonatina in G - Moderato + Romanze[/b]: What a fun piece! I enjoyed that.

09. Ted Stanion - Notturno, Op. 54, No. 4[/b]: Terrific. Not too slow IMO.

10. Kawaigirl1 - Late Night[/b]: Delicately phrased, I thought. Nicely expressive.

11. JeanieA - Hallelujah[/b]: That was great! Good luck in the recital.

12. polostrings - Mr. Ng's news[/b]: Lovely piece, thanks for sharing that. I look forward to more.

13. The Schubertian - Haydn Sonata #59, Mov't 2[/b]: what a wonderful drive to it. Very moving.

14. TrueBeginner - Couleur Tendresse ( Color of Tenderness ? )[/b]: Wow, 3 months really? That's great! Very well done.

15. Angelojf - Over the Rainbow[/b]: I don't know so much about voicing choices, and my ear is still in development. Sounds interesting though! I also like how it breaks out sometimes.

16. Serge88 - Yesterday[/b]: It's cool that you've done that by ear, at least in some part. I like the rolling chords.

17. rustyfingers - Star Wars (Main Title)[/b]: That's fun. Very dramatic.

18. piano_deb (Deborah) - Für Elise (easy piano)[/b]: Cleanly played. Good time keeping.

19. Undone (Jim) - Plaisir D'Amour[/b]: This is a nice little piece.

20. Copper - Part of Your World[/b]: I like your playing. Very lively & Energetic.

21. epf - Rondino (Little Rondo)[/b]: This is a nice piece. You let it shine.

22. Bluekeys - Le Onde[/b]: Lovely flow to this piece.

23. TX-Dennis (Dennis Turner) - The Nearness of You[/b]: Very sweetly played. Wonderfully expressive.

24. rocky - Serenade[/b]: That's nice. I'm not familiar with the original.

25. Kawai, HI - Theme from Fantaisie Impromptu Op. 66[/b]: That's a sweet piece too.

26. Forum ID: Riddler; Real name: Ed - A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing[/b]: Nice gentle swing to this.

27. LaValse - Etude Op 2[/b]: Wow, I'm so impressed at one-take "live" recordings. This is very lovely. Thanks for the liner notes, too.

28. greywullf - Nocturne in A minor Op. 10 No. 1[/b]: Lots of feeling here. Nice melodic line.

29. JohnFrank - The Sound of Music[/b]: This is a fun piece. I can hear your enthusiasm.

30. Euphonatrix - March (from "Music for Children", op. 65, no. 10)[/b]: Your liner notes say it all, subversive harmonies indeed. And that march beat. Great.

31. Eighty8 - My Foolish Heart[/b]: Nice piece. Thanks for the lyrics too.

32. Pevawi - The Rose[/b]: I used to play this on guitar. Lovely piece.

33. DragonPianoPlayer - Prelude No 8 in C# Minor[/b]: Very minor! I like the darkish (to me) quality of this piece.

34. mlr1899 - Fugue in C minor[/b]: I'd like to learn this piece. Of course, I'd like to learn all of Bach! Nice interplay!

35. xcal - Arabesque op. 18[/b]: This is great, quite powerful! Very fluid. Good luck on guitar too, great idea working on both I think.

36. Mateusz "Mati" Papiernik - Nocturne in C# minor Op. posth. (Lento con gran espressione)[/b]: I like some of the back and forth play within this piece, it has a sort of motion to it. Nicely played.

Gonna submit this so I don't loose it or anything! Incredible playing folks! I'm awed and a bit overwhelmed.
