Does anyone know how to change your "publicly displayed name" on this forum? I have emailed the moderator several times, but no response. I was hoping someone might know a trick.

I can't add a new profile because it says the email address is already in use. I don't see any method to delete your old profile.

Can anyone help?

I think you are stuck.

I asked Frank to change mine to my real name (Steve Ries) about 6 months ago but I never heard from him. Frank runs a very successful business helping web site owners optimize exposure and he does not have a heck of a lot of time for PW right now.

I know people have been able to create new login accounts, because John Anthony did so just a few weeks ago. But I know he had some correspondence with Frank to get it done. I don't think it's possible to simply change a login name.

Euclid, by "emailed the moderator" I am guessing that you either really mean owner, Frank. The moderators for ABF are C7 Player and me, ShiroKuro. Anyway, I sent you a PM.

Also, I noticed this after I PMed you, so please keep it in mind.

Copied from the top of the "edit profile" page:

Your login (user) name cannot be changed.
Perhaps Frank does not want to be put in the position where he's asked to frequently take care of members' names etc. I would guess that name changes would only be done in special cases, so if you haven't done so already, please be sure to explain that in your correspondence to Frank.

One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to be possible for a member to delete his or her own account, which is interesting. So once you register, you're in the system forever. That seems odd, but I can't find anything to contradict it. If I do, I'll post back here.

I think if you want to create a new account so you get a new screen name, and you want to use the same email address, then change the email address in the current euclid account to something different (can probably be anything, doesn't have to be a real email address) and then create the new account

No, you need to usea real email account, and one that you have access to, because you'll get a confirmation mail there and have to respond to it (or click on a link, whatever.) But if you have more than one email account, it shouldn't be a problem.

Cool. I've updated your Recital submission to reflect your new user name Fred.
