I'd stick with the steady income of the engineering job. But, you can keep your hand in by playing for churches ( substitute organist, choir accompanist), also look for community theaters who need piano or keyboard player.

I will suggest that you keep your job, for a couple of reasons. Especially in the current economic situation, it could well turn out that your job is the only true friend that you have. Your present job can be the launch pad for whatever you do in the future. Read Who Moved My Cheese. A quick read and thought provocing.

Lots of people figure out that they followed the wrong major.

Play every chance you get in a casual situation and soon you will find that there are no longer any jitters.

Advise that I learned from my Mother. Pray with complete devotion to the thought that prayer is the only answer. After praying, go to work with the idea in mind that God might have been attending a bit more pressing problem while you offered your prayer. It always worked for her and for me.

James
